I bought a prime plus and it does not come with the auto headlight feature. didnt really notice it till i got it home and now I want to be able to have that feature. Is it as easy as replacing the turn signal switch?
It might not be that easy, as it needs the light sensor, and may be the computer programs (may be toggle some settings). I'm not sure if the existing wires supports that. Toyota is famous of using different wires for different trim levels, they rather wasting time for tedious work to manage different variations of parts, than wasting a dime on materials.
Options package on the prime can be kind of funny… I just bought my new prime this week, and made sure that the MSRP matched what I was getting from the dealer. You see the Advance model can go for $34,100-34,600. Just that $500 difference in trim package can make a difference. That auto dim headlight feature last night I use for the first time and initially it seems kind of distracting it clicking bright and dim constantly… I guess it’s nice feature but I have to get used to it.
Auto dim high beams is an excellent feature. I usually buy top of the line as it is almost impossible to add desired features.
I prefer to not use auto dim high beams because when I'm going around a curve in the road they go to high beam and blind the oncoming driver in the opposite direction, they also randomly go to high beam when on a straightaway road which also is blinding the oncoming driver in the opposite direction
Agree. In flat rural areas, it's not sensitive enough. The lights need to dim sooner and they do not dim at all if there is a person pulled out in front of you going the same way and they're within 100 yards. The lights on the Prime are nice and bright but that's a double edged sword. I don't use them unless it's a very rural area with few cars. It's too easy to hack people off with brights.
