Could you please tell me if you have heard of anyone doing any of the following? Charging the main battery; 1. Put the car on rollers and charge the car by putting it in drive and rolling the wheels until the SOC is high. (Not that I would do this!) 2. Putting the car in drive and hooking in where the motor is. Then cutting the motor connections off using switches and feeding power into the car at that point since the car should help regulate the power into the main battery using the regenerative braking system. 3. Hooking in at the regenerative braking system and feeding power while the car is coasting using a secondary power pack to assist with charging the main battery. Using extra power to drive the car; 4. Hooking in at the back of the electric motor using switches and feeding power while the car is in drive and the motor is in EV using a secondary power pack extending the range. 5. Keeping the car in neutral, fliping a switch causing the accelerator to feed the drive motor power to drive the car from a secondary power pack using the extra pack first. Then flip the swich back and be back to normal again. I would appreciate any info you could post here.
Norm (eflier), the maker of CAN-View, and couple members on PC (including mrbigh), are working on PHEV with CAN-View. CAN-View can provide control to relays that switch between batteries? I do not know the details of it. You can ask them for advise. If you go to http://hybridinterfaces.ca/downloads.html, you see you can download CAN-View PHEV codes.
As I understand it CAN-View won't work on an 06 Prius but I will check it out. No, I've checked and no CAN-View for the 06. However, what I am wanting to do is to use a secondary pack to feed into the system while I am driving during the week. Also, on long trips while I am coasting during pulse and glide, but more so during Warp Stealth. As it stands now, when I Warp Stealth I can do it for a few times, but then the battery is too low so I can't do it any longer until the battery is charged up again. I would like to build the worlds first TransWarp Stealth Drive.

Thanks, I have been to Calcars and I love what they are doing! The only thing is from what I can tell you need to use a CAN-View with there circuits and spoofing circuits. There is no CAN-View for my 06 so I am stuck on coming up with another way to do this. So I thought someone here at Priuschat.com may have some ideas. Lots of intelligent people here, so Priuschat would make a great think tank. I was hoping to locate someone who has done a solar conversion to an 06 who would be willing to share where to plug into the hybrid system. Truth be told, these are all just hacks into the Toyota system and I don't think that stuff should be claimed as proprietary. Yes 04’s and 05’s can all go the cal car way, but on the 06 without the CAN-View system I have to wonder if there is a simpler solution to run this car such as this. Flip a switch and relays cut the power to the motor and the accelerator pedal. At the same time a battery pack in the trunk is now controlled by the accelerator pedal and it sends power to the motor. No the hybrid system won’t display your MPG’s on the MFD, but do you think it would work? The extra battery then could be charged at night by whatever system you want. As long as you keep the car in neutral the hybrid system should keep all of the other system working perfectly. I really need input on this before I consider doing any of this type of work. What I would like better than this would be the solar system that charges a buffer battery that feeds the main battery or at least the hybrid system while the car is running normally. I would not want the solar panel on top of the car, but I would want to expand the buffer battery and charge that at night. The solar system is done without any spoofing circuits. I just can’t figure out where it attaches to this system!

CANView was designed on the bassis of Prius 04 and 05 & Toyota MC had changed their hardware in their 06 line and hence it is not compatible with CANView original design. Despite of this, is a great accesory/tool and have been adopted sucesfully for future PHEV projects .
It is too bad that the Prius is an Internal Combustion Engine Car with EV ability, instead of an EV car with an Internal combustion Engine ability. I want my plug!

u can press brakes and accelerator pedal at the same time to force charge the HV battery to 80 % SOC ( which i believe is max ) , i had to do this on a 01 prius which i charged the hv battery slightly jsut to get it started, then proceeeded on force charging it . i had almost less than 40 % SOC ( almost wouldnt start , i had to force charge it before the battery ECU recalibrated )
Please help my ignorance, but if you were to supply voltage just over battery voltages(say 276 volts)and keep it regulated to low amperage (say .5-1.5A) why couldn't you just charge the battery directly from behind the inverter?

I thought we could have the best of both worlds and use a system like Steve Lapp's without putting a solar panel on. I mean once we have a way to add an additional battery pack that can feed the car while running, we don't have to get the power from the roof, we could just charge at night from any other source including a solar roof on our home.
