All, Its been a while since I posted...because...well...car has been freakin rock solid for 12 years and 175K miles. A weeks ago, I got the P0A80 warnings, and I took my car to a buddy mechanics house to get the error code..and it was indeed P0A80. I then drove the car back home with the warnings...and limped the last few mile into my garage. Luckily I was able to find a local shop that had re-built batteries and offered mobile installation service. I probably could have limped 4 miles to their location..but I didnt want to risk any damage to the vehicle. Pricing for an 18 month re-built battery pack with tax and mobile installation was $1589.50. I did a test drive with the new pack after installation...car feels brand new with the new pack. Hoping to reach over 200K. I don't work nor am affiliated in any way with the company...just currently a satisfied customer...here is their link if y'all are interested: Our Shop Locations | Greentec Auto Cheers, Richard
Too bad you didn't read/research more here before going that route. Good luck with the warranty because you will almost certainly need to use it. Most of these companies are using old but still good modules to make a "good" pack. They don't use NEW modules because Toyota and its supplier doesn't sell them. GreenTecAuto = SCAM | PriusChat Here's another company posted just today:Falcon Hybrid Solutions review: STAY AWAY!!! | PriusChat And another one: What is killing all my Hybrid Batteries?! 3 batteries have failed. | PriusChat GOOD LUCK!
Hmmm...oh well...we'll see if they honor the warranty. Good thing I went ahead an purchased a new vehicle after my Prius pack died. I got 18 months on the rebuilt pack warranty...they are just down the road and I'll let the kids deal with future battery swaps in the next 18 months. Cheers
I think the cosy you paid on that battery, a used one for that matter was expensive. Toyota sells theirs for less than that amount. And its brand new from Toyota!
Regarding Greentec Auto...seems like good reviews overall...BBB gave them an A+ rating. I knew I wasnt getting new batteries..and I wanted something reasonably priced. Regrading 2006 Prius new OEM battery, G9510-47031, prices can be as low as $1626 with $300 in shipping and core exchange, but then I'll have to replace it myself and the Toyota warranty is 12 months. So yeah...there are DIY options out there..but I figured...Greentec was local, 18 month warranty...under $1600...meh..give them a shot (yeah..I'm trying to justify a purchase after the fact....). Cheers
