I have a 2010 Prius and I recently just got rear-ended the hatch no longer opens but the car doesn't recognize that it's closed so there is a beeping alerting me that one of my doors is open. Because the hatch is stuck shut I can't trick the switch in the locking mechanism to think that it's closed I can't seem to find anywhere online where the beeping speaker box is. I'm an Uber driver I intend on getting this fixed but until I get the money from the insurance I need to be able to work and the beeping is not only driving me insane but my ratings down and my clients insane as well. If anyone has any suggestions for how to turn the beeping off I would greatly appreciate it.
Welcome, Altech. I'll just comment here that you have the same question in a more appropriate forum, so folks with ideas should go to Turn off "open door buzzer" | PriusChat to avoid obfuscation.
I'm interested in solving this too. I was carrying some long sheets of plywood, thought I had it sorted, pushing a caribiner into the latch, spoofing the hatch latch, but no joy.
An easy thing. Go to where you're going to have repairs done and ask they just cut the wire for now? Don't know where you are but if close, you're welcome to try my brandy new, spiffy tech stream. I'm near Hartford CT. ML, If I remember correctly. You're far away. But if'n I'm wrong and it would help. Youre more than welcome to its use. Lost count how many times you have helped me out and really would enjoy reciprocating. Seriously and thank you again for all your help! Would be of benefit to me big time learning the thing. So honestly, works for me and if it could turn off them there Gawd awful beeps. Works for me!
I'll be right over... Maybe the caribiner I used was just not the right shape, too loose? I seriously thought it would work.
Alech, you mentioned ratings. I have a courier biz and moon lite doing uber. The rating thing is a minor but important thing. (I know, minor but important) So aside from driving you crazy. Feel your pain with it all.
In the other thread, it was mentioned that moving the latch to closed worked? Hey, ca'mon over! I'll get us some beers.
@Alech Apologies, reading more carefully, my response is pointless. Due to the beeping be caused by your being rear-ended, could this fall under an insurance claim?
Read this!!!!! Might have an answer. With the fob, I changed the door unlock from unlocking just the driver's door. To and so it unlocks all doors. I forget exactly how but really easy and is here on several threads. PC.c is pretty awesome and of great help! Just happened to open the hatchback. No beeping. Man, it would be cool to be helpful rather than my usual, in need of help. Rode the short bus. Wearing a helmet where we got tire damage on the road less traveled on the way to the school of hard knocks. TMI? LoL. Yeah, but its a fun ride...
If I had clients that complained about the beeping, I'd just stoically and straight faced pretend I didn't hear anything. You're ratings won't go up. But it would be a lot of fun.
