I just purchased a 2001 Prius a couple of days ago. It has the standard AM/FM sterio radio with cassette player. I would like to add a CD player. Does the radio have a CD input? Any suggestions? cod1951
I thought it had a CD player? Unless that's a Canadian feature. Check the in-dash compartment for a CD player.

Hmm, i don't know but... ...if you wanted to add a CD player cheaply you could get one of those tape deck adapters and plug like a walkman into it... its cheaper, less of a hassle and you don't mod the car in any way. otherwise i would say the only way is either someone will post a reply and say "yes, it does" or "no, it doesn't". i also haven't HEARD, but that doesn't mean its not that way, that alot of stock decks are pretty much hard wired and don't offer alot of flexablity for things like that. Explains why people like after market decks aside from they look flashier...
For 2001 Prius, 1CD was available as option and the 6CD changer can be swapped in. For the latter there are cabling issues to be met - if you are serious about this I'm sure we can pull together all the info.

I hope that both of you can get the help you need by joining the yahoo toyota-prius group and asking the question there. Most of the active 2001-2003 Prius posters will be found there. I am in China now and somewhat distant from this issue.
