Toyota will have lane trace assist on certain models approx. mid aug.is the prius prime is included. ref ken shaw toyota
What is the difference between it and our current lane departure assistant? Can it be added to our current version?
lane trace assist keeps the car centered in the lane,it uses radar and is more accurate then cameras.
It'll follow the car in front if it can't see the lines. Read this. It's the 3rd section - Advanced Driving Support Features Future Toyota Integrated Safety Systems (2018 Edition) | PriusChat
cool. I think the current type doesn't react quick enough. It seems to let you wander over the line before it pushes you back...or it seems that way!
That is one complaint I have in Indiana, they don't pave the road and they don' t like to paint lines on the roads.
Lane Tracing assist is more like Tesla Autopilot/Nissan propilot which keeps the car centered in lane with minimal driver input. It's supposed to be much more advanced vs LKA. Its a godsend for people with lots of highway driving like myself and I cant wait. They just announced it for the upcoming corolla which is the lowest end toyota(prior it was only for avail on the 2019 Lexus LS and announced for upcoming UX) so Im guessing it wont be long before it comes to the rest of the Toyota lineup.
If only. I don't look for Toyota to do anything for existing owners. This will probably be a feature to temp future buyers. And they already have your money. No reason to placate existing owners. After all, we still have Entune after thousands of complaints about it. What yanks my chain is the fact that my 2010 had a functional LKA and they removed it.
hopefully they put in some sort of lane merge detection. I've written more than enough video processing code in my lifetime to be very wary of giving up control to someone's code. Toyota's killer firmware: Bad design and its consequences | EDN
