I currently own 3 Prius. 2004, 2005 and 2007. The 2005 has 500,000+ miles now. With that background. DIMMER will not work on newly purchased used 2007 GEN II (GEN 2) prius. The dimmer can be put to any postition and there is no change in brighness at all. It will stay at full brightness. I visually and meter checked all the fuses, they are all good. I have replaced DIMMER WHEEL it with a known working dimmer switch from my other 2005 PRIUS, this did not fix problem. Does anybody know what issue may be? I will have at the dealer this weekend getting a new SMART ENTRY key duplicated. I am having them look at DIMMER also. PS - I just repaired the spiral cable in the steering wheel. This went well. I can't imagine anything in the steering wheel that would have affected the DIMMER functionality. Thank you for any assistance, John Kinney GO PRIUS !
Was the dimmer even working before the steering spiral job you did? If it was, there may have being a tempering of the or a related circuitry to the dimmer. Isn't there a way you could get an electrical wiring diagram for the dimmer? Dxta
I don't think it was working before, I don't know because I never test drove at night and didn't notice the brightness of the dashboard or computer screen. I will take the apart the steering wheel again and look for issues. I will take a look around for a wiring diagram. Thank you.
