Most aftermarkets show replacements for 2010-2015; then 2017 and 2018. ...But, none for the 2016. I am interested in a DEFINITIVE solution to the replacement situation for the 2016. I am on my third Prius, and most of the repairs/replacements on the earlier Priuses were standardized to "almost aircraft precision". I need help with this one. My Toyota personnel cannot provide a meaningful answer.
Do you mean your dealership parts department doesn't have replacement wiper inserts? This page has info, I believe "refills" are the rubber-only bits: Windshield Wipers | Toyota Parts
The 2017 - 2018 Liftback parts should fit the 2016. I just searched 2016 Prius Three. Rear refill: From: 2016 Toyota Prius Parts - metrotoyotapartsnow.com Right refill: From: 2016 Toyota Prius Parts - metrotoyotapartsnow.com Left refill: From: 2016 Toyota Prius Parts - metrotoyotapartsnow.com
When I had my 2016 car in for it's free biannual service, I asked them to put in new wiper blades. They said they didn't have them in stock. I was pretty surprised at that.
Thank you for your responses. I am too lazy for the disassembly of the existing blade and replacing the rubber. I am still looking for a "blade replacement" for the driver's position.
I used my previous links to find it. you really need to learn how to navigate websites. Here is the link for the blade. 2016 Toyota Prius Parts - metrotoyotapartsnow.com
Do your bit for saving the environment, and a few bucks, learn how to change just the rubber bits. Also, it could be there's nothing wrong with your current blades, the windshield is just gumming up, needs a clean. Wipe down the blades too. Get a heavy-duty automotive glass cleaner.
Yes, refills are the rubber only pieces. When I too my car in for its penultimate Toyota Care, they were out of the wiper blade inserts. Mine were end of life, I have no garage or covered parking (unless I park under a tree, which might be a bad idea). First take off the "cap" at the base of the rear wiper housing. Slide out the old rubber inserts and keep the metal "spines". Open the package containing the new inserts, then slide the spines into the inserts. This part is a little tricky. Slide the whole assembly (inserts + spines) carefully back into the channel of the wiper housing. Replace the cap at the bottom of the rear wiper housing and you're done. I watched the service writer at Toyota of Denton do this for me last week. Sorry I don't have pictures, I was too busy watching the procedure. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I see the 4th gen Owner's Manual has decently detailed instruction on how to get the blades off the arm, which means you can replace the rubber bits in more comfortable surroundings, especially in winter. Third gen manual had pretty much nothing on the subject, not too good, considering it's 600 plus pages. Anyway: One caution if your remove the blades from the arm, be VERY careful about not releasing the free arm, thwack into the windshield. Maybe put something good and thick down, beforehand.
Not sure if it happens in other places, but here, if they're not busy, the Auto Parts store guys will often install them for you.
The inserts for the rear wiper aren't available at auto parts stores in the US yet. In theory, Bosch Icon blades are supposed to fit, according to the guy at O'Reilly's, but I have my doubts. They didn't fit when the guy at Advance Auto Parts tried to put them on. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
