Hello all, new to the forum, in the market for a Prius prime, local dealer here in southern California is offering $25,062 before tax and license for a 2017 Prius Prime Premium. What do you guys think about that price?

My shipping cost was $550 from LA to Salt Lake City (cash, no credit card accepted). I ended using a company the dealership in CA recommended.

If that’s otd with TTL included, that’s one of the best deals I’ve seen on an Advanced

That sounds like a great price for an advanced. Heck. Mine must be a great quote then. Out the door for me is a little over $27k

If your base price is $25K, OTD should be $28K+

Just be careful. I was quoted a wonderful price over the phone. When I got there it was a different story. Careful of the bait and switch. They will say anything to get you on the lot.

For sure. I have had a couple pull that. I caught it in their quote they sent me. In this day and age, I'm surprised they still pull that.

Once, I made a deal over the internet and then the phone with a saleswomen at a Toyota dealer by where I work. I told her I'd be right over. When I got there, a salesman peeled off a line at the top of the stairs and darn near dragged me out of my car. I said I was expected by the saleswoman. "She's not here". "I spoke to her 5 minutes ago". "She left". Things went downhill from there. Needless to say, at the end, I told them in a few choice words, that I wouldn't buy a hubcap from them.

I went to a couple of dealers and the best for the Advance in Md was out the door (TTL) for $31,000. About $5,600 off list. That included the $3,000 rebate. So I bought it.

They only wanted to give me $1k for my 2004 Prius so I kept it. I need to do the front brakes (original), they are getting thin and the battery seems to have lost capacity, no red triangle of death yet. For being 14 years old, 140k miles and very minor problems it's been a reliable car. Hopefully the 2017 will last 14 years also!

With what add on options? And when you say OTD...does that include tax, fees, etc. If it does then thats a killer deal

Thanks! Can't wait for it to get here. :D

Now on to researching the best ways to retire my old '02 Prius with 160 K miles. Dealer only offering me $500. Would Carmax or some used car sales lot be better? (of course there is Facebook or CL but I wonder how much of a time sink that is?

@thorn appears to be from Maryland. A quick search found this in case you didn't know about it:
    http://mde.maryland.gov/marylandgreen/Documents/EV_dealershipflyer_online.pdf
Indicates Maryland buyers also get $100/KWh as a state rebate...Yea...

@panache appears to be from Virginia . This is the best I could find for VA incentives:
How to Save Money with Virginia Green Driver Incentives | DMV.ORG
Didn't see any cash incentives but maybe the special plate and HOV access is attractive.

The dmv.org site seems to be pretty comprehensive...If you haven't checked it out for your state, it might be worth a look.
Select your state, then searching for "Green" appears to find good stuff.
