i have a 2012 Prius, t-spirit, with sat nag. There is a DAB radio button on the dash which does nothing. Can I get it to work and how? What do I need to plug into to make it work?
Welcome. We do not have DAB radio in the US. I believe @Data Daedalus is a UK user with an older Prius. Perhaps he knows the answer.
Doing a Google search I found some PriusChat references from 2010 referring to an expensive kit needed for DAB on the Prius.
I have been looking on Google that's how come I have ended up with this waist of time of witch I thought would be helpful but all I get is people laughing at my predictive text looks like I'm back to google in hope of some sense
Here is a link from just a few day ago about someone who installed a DAB radio. Installed Factory DAB module | PriusChat
I was just passing information on and have never been a big fan of radio. I have really bad hearing and I spent my whole adult life around jet engines and then a noisy steel mill so I am OK with the radio off. Thanks for the information though.
Karoly, Perhaps describe your radio/nav model, or publish a picture; prius came in many types. If your button says “AM/DAB” you likely have the Touch Pro, meaning you have DAB built in. Rather just press the “audio” button, and use the screen to choose DAB. Or press the button once and it goes to AM, press a second time and it toggles to DAB. In DAB mode you’ll first need to scan the DAB bands: you can just press the channel buttons (up or down) on the DAB screen and let it auto scan. It will stop once it finds a working channel. In the lower half of the screen you can then select available stations. You do however need to be in DAB covered area. Secondly: your DAB antenna needs to be connected on the back of the radio. And does your car have its original antenna? The little stick on the roof with the cable twirled around it? If someone e.g. changed the original antenna, it won’t work. Cheers
Thanks. If I had really wanted to be a pain I would have said to post in the International Owners forum. International Owners | PriusChat The last post there was in November 2017. I doubt that would have been of much help.
