New owner, first post. Recently purchased a 2010 in great condition. 138k miles for $7500. Purchased during the day and didn’t notice the poor quality low beam headlights. Went to replace the light bulbs and found this sensor wired into the passenger side headlight. Also the back of the headlight assembly had been caulked closed as it seems the plastic piece that holds the bulb in place has been broken. What could this sensor be? Thank you!
It is hard to tell from the photo but to me it looks more like a wire crimp connector than a sensor. I also notice a black and a purple wire aligned such that they may be going into the crimp connectors and that the wiring harness has been compromised. My guess... someone modified the wiring for an accessory. (fog lights?) Where does the purple wire go?
