If the $27K price was comprised of just the current $3000 Toyota incentive and another $4828 of dealer mark down, that was an amazing price. Probably close to $2000 better than I have seen (or what I got last summer)...

From the post, I was assuming a 2000 model year car was traded-in but how much the dealer gave for that trade-in wasn't stated.
My guess is that TTL including all the dealer charges was in the range of $2200 meaning (27000+2200-trade=28000) about $1200 for trading in the 2000 model year car?

i'm reading it as 8k off msrp, without the trade in, because the out the door price is lower than tax alone, which would be $1,687.50 on $27,000. plus registration, and etc. but could be mistaken.

if correct, i could be swayed...

What did you decide? The one I was interested in sold, so my "buy on the last day of the month" plan fell through. Hoping march offers are nice.

Sorry for the confusion. My trade in was $2000 not a 2000 model car model :)
My KBB trade in was at best $2000 (needing $4000 in repairs w/ new clutch, exhaust, etc.). I sleep better trading in to dealership then selling to another person for a little more $$.

Buying a car is always a frustrating process. Most dealerships lead people to believe they got a great deal which is often not the case. We fight this car-buying-battle on their turf.

I am a frugal shopper and think it was an ok transaction. I’ve read others getting 6k of MSRP and NY getting $4000 cash rebates. Anyways, my car buying ordeal is over now. At least, until next car. Hope my numbers can help someone else.

Now, I’m a little ticked US models don’t have folding power side mirrors. It was so cool on the YouTube post I saw months ago. Spent 15 minutes in car looking for button. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the clarification...Looks like you still got a really great deal...Enjoy the car.

Toyota just added around $500 on top of their existing rebate, depends on states. Now NJ, NY $4500, CA $2000, VA $3000, DE $3000

    So I think that's a 29,943 MSRP vehicle...Meaning you got $5153 off ($4000 toyota rebate + $1153 dealer markdown).
    Congrats...Enjoy your new ride.

Thanks! So far we're liking it. I think by paying cash we got a better deal. Now I just have to learn how to drive it efficiently.

    New to the board.

Just received a quote from a SoCal dealer for Prius Prime Plus Red for $28,473 (Final balance and with tax and fees plus the 500 finance rebate). Based on what I have read in this thread, I think the price is just average.

    Any thoughts.

    Thank you.
