Because I read this thread, I asked our dealer when we picked up our Prime 2 days ago. We got a plastic cover for the manuals.

Exactly how are you storing and viewing them on your iPad? Thanks!

I also store mine on my iPad. They can be downloaded from the my Toyota website. I use the Acrobat viewer to see them. There is an option on the app to store them on the iPad. I created a folder for the Prius as well as my other cars.

I store my pdf’s in iBook on my iPhone and iPad. I have the complete 784 page manual downloaded . Makes for quick and easy browsing of the manual.

How do you put them in iBook on your iPad? Are they stored on the iPad, or only in iCloud? Can you search them for keywords (like searching "fuel capacity" or something else you're looking for)?

When you have a pdf file open in Safari, go to the bottom of your screen and click on the center icon and it will show you some options where to store your file. You will see iBooks there.

Yes, you can search any pdf file. The search function is at the top of the page of the pdf file that is open.

Here's a step-by-step to store them locally on your iPad (versus in the cloud). This assumes you have iOS 11 or higher (I'm on 11.2.6 right now) and you're using Safari:

Go to Toyota Online Owners Manuals and Warranty and choose "Select a Vehicle." Choose your Prime from the pop-up box:

Choose a manual to view from the next screen:

Tap the export-to icon, top right:

Choose "Save to Files" from the drop-down to save locally on your iPad. Note that my drop-down also has a Dropbox icon. This is because I have a Dropbox (cloud storage) account and, because I do, I get that as an optional destination.

Choose one of the "On My iPad" folders (doesn't really matter which - just remember where you put it) and tap "Add":

You're done. When you want to view it, go to the Files folder (which should default to the quick access bar at the bottom):

I store the physical manuals in the trunk area where the lug wrench and lug lock key is. Now i have an actual usable glovebox.

Thanks to mercat on the how to and reco on storing the online pdf version.

isn't there some sort of space under one of the back seats? Not sure yet, still new. Have only had a chance to drive my new prime once.

Probably. The jack lives under the rear seat on the driver's side.
