Hi guys, Im looking for Michelin primacy 3st or cintinental comfort contact 6 but neither of these tyres are available in the UK. not on ebay, amazon or gumtree. Anybody knows soneone who own these? or any other recommandations for low road noise tyres?
Hello and welcome from Cornwall. I'm still on my original tyres at 14k+ miles, so I've no real idea of what's best. Kithmo has more experience in this than me. He should be online before too long, as ProdigyPlace has poked him. Good luck and please keep the forum updated as to what you got and what you thought of the tyres. Your model is known on here as the Generation 3.
poked, Ouch TBH the quietest tyres I've had were Toyo Proxes on my Prius+. I had Michelin Primacys on my Gen 3 and they were very quiet on smooth tarmac but not so on anything else. If you're trying to reduce road noise, sell the Gen 3 and get a Gen 4. The UK noise ratings on tyres are drive-by noise so don't really give you a true indication of interior noise but I'd guess that lower drive-by would probably give less interior noise from the road. P.s. I found on previous cars, before I went hybrid, tyres with smaller tread patterns were always quieter, just an observation, not necessarily fact.
I posted with @ before your username which sent you an alert that I tagged you in a post, Like this, @kithmo The key is to select the username from the list.
after a few resraches, I found three pair of tyres that might have the lowest db level, Dunlop SP Winter Response 2 with 67db, Dunlop SP Sport Bluresponse with 68db, Pirelli Cinturato Winter with 66db, but not sure these winter tyres will last and work well in other seasons.
Strangely X-Ice seems to manage that, hardly notice them. I don't think any tire with the term "winter" in the description is going to fare well through summer though, will wear fast at higher temps.
I spent hours looking for low rolling resistance tires the other day and there wasn't one tire that someone didn't like because they were noisy. I finally made up my mind and I now own 8 Toyo Nanoenergy A29 tires and no one else except me and one other guy on Prius Chat likes them. It's just the kind of guy I am, always going against the grain. Can't hear anyway and my wife has no problems with them. The one I did find that was quiet wasn't a low rolling resistance tire. These were my second choice. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081ESQ9E/?coliid=IINU6LCZHWY9C&colid=1S7U6YH7LC4LE&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Just like to qualify that a bit: I made a point of listening, driving on dry/clear pavement: I can hear them, a slight "song", but pretty muted, not over the top, and I have had noisy snow tires in past.
