I'm Getting my wife a new Prius Four

    Hey everyone, it's been a while since I have been here. My wife currently has a 2010 Prius IV in Blue Ribbon with about 130K on the clock and it is time to pass it on to our son for his first car. He got his license back in January. He's learned to drive on this my my 2000 Trans Am, but refuses to learn to drive stick on my 2017 Camaro SS with snows. (his loss). The kid can flay a racing drone but not drive stick. Oh well.

    I was around here when we first got the car but slacked off. It's been great with few issues.

    I tired to buy her a Tesla but she claimed it was to flashy...OK, her loss. We did drive a Model S (the fully loaded one) and both loved it...

    Anyway, She settled on the Blue Crush with All of the Technology packages. I wanted her to have the premium sound, otherwise she would just complain....

    So my local dealer found one on a boat and we should see it by then end of March or the beginning of April. The price has yet to be determined but I hope to make it official tomorrow or Saturday with a down payment.

    So we continue in Prius land with a similar blue color (which drives me nuts but it's not my car).. Her biggest complaint is the lack of storage space. I just told her to keep less crap in her car! This from a guy with 2 muscle cars and keeps nothing in them!

    I'll post some pics when we get it.

    Maybe you should buy her a new 75 inch TV to help make the wait easier. Unless you think she would prefer an 80 inch model :)

    Upstate, Binghamton. I call it New Yuck because it's the nanny state. They just keep taking my rights away My business is based here so I can't just leave and my kids are doing well in school.

    We picked up a 65" last year! She's driving my step moms Volt for another week or so which is great because I don't have to shuttle my kids around now!

    I'll have to trade in my Camaro because I can't stand having 3 blue cars in the driveway....

    I learned to drive stick shift....first. Didn't really have a choice at the time because that was all my parents owned.

    To be honest? I loved a stick shift, and my earliest vehicles were stick shift.
    Now I guess I've got too old and lazy. The last few vehicles I've owned have all been "automatic" transmissions. But I sometimes just miss the whole connection and feeling driving a stick shift offers.

    It's hard for me to imagine a young kid, (with all due respect to Prius) choosing a Prius over a 2017 Camaro SS, I think if I was in the same situation, I'd be looking for every chance to practice the shift and clutch ratio and timing.
    Of course when I was that age, I wasn't caring too much about efficiency or utility.

    Things have changed. I'm afraid we are raising a generation that will think of stick shifts the way we think of Horseless Carriages, that you had to crank start.

    My first car was a 1947 Ford and did you know they still had the opening for a had crank through the grill.

    I sold it last year after owning it for 52 years.

    Dad's '49 Austin A40 had a hole and a crank handle

    My previous 3 cars were Manual/clutch - I still hanker for a Manual. Over the years, I've had 14 manuals, and 5 Auto.

    Hey, my 1970s Farmall 140 tractor has a crank hole. We did not get a crank with this used tractor though.

    I'll bet she's going to LOVE that new car!!

    I enjoy a manual, but I guess I'm old enough now that it's not that big of a deal.

    But you can tell your son that I said if you can't drive a stick, you're not driving; you're just aiming. :LOL:

    We are looking forward to the new car. The old one has it's share of rattles now but has been very reliable.
    Sometime around March 20 is the expected delivery date. The dealer confirmed the trade and it is ours.. I will have to do a pic of all 3 blue cars in the driveway!

    I am hoping my next car will be a Corvette and it will be a stick. After that, I am hoping for a Tesla.

    I guess I must be one of the few cars guys that actually does not mind the Prius. It does what it is designed for very well.

    Just gotta ask: why level 4? It has some bells-and-whistles I'm sure. Are you aware it has no spare tire? If so just ignore me, lol: I appreciate for some it's not an issue.

    The 4 has all of the options we want. The lack of spare does not bother me. My Camaro does not have one nor did my last.

    I got an email Friday that the car had landed at the port. I don't know how long it will take top reach us but I hope we get it soon. We won't have to shuttle our son around for baseball practice!
