If the 16" "touring" package wheels are like the 2004-06 Japanese 16" wheels, they'll look like this. Here is a pic without the cover. [attachmentid=4241]

The price for the JDM wheels was so much more than I could justify, that I quickly moved on to considering other options. The lack of choice when it came to good 16" tires in North America, and mileage hit reported by the vast majority of people who switched to 17" pretty much killed the idea all together.
I dont get it, whats with the plastic cover over the alluminum wheel thing?! Why the fascination with making alloy wheels, a selling point, look like hubcaps on a Yaris?
Yeah, when I heard about the 5mpg drop, I thought, well I guess I should be happy Toyota gave us 15 inchers lol. THat and it's lighter and tyres cost less to replace! Plastic is still lighter than alloy. This way, they can make a light alloy with less volume, then use the plastic to acheive the design they want. Besides, it's kinda cool to have interchangeable wheels although I guess it's more dramatic with the 16" alloys since you can have the Euro look or the JDM gunmetal look.
