Here's a closer look. Looks like bare threads that should be attached to something. I brought this up with the dealer when I bought the car and we looked at a used 2005 on the lot (mine is a 2006) and it had the same exact thing so I shrugged it off. But I'm still curious as to whatever the hell it is. Anyone? Thanks!
Is it supposed to look so raw and exposed? Looks like there should be a cover on it. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(brandon @ Jul 23 2006, 03:05 PM) </div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(yorks @ Jul 23 2006, 12:02 PM) </div> Just had a look at our 2005. Apparently the Canadian model does not show that. Ours does show a black wire hanger but about 2-3 inches above what your pic shows. Gary
Yorks! Egad, man, you've done it! Raised a question about a Prius part PREVIOUSLY UNCOMMENTED ON, and even previously not pictured in captivity! I know hyo silver crawls around on the floor of his Prius a lot, and HE didn't spot it. (Maybe the Canadian version didn't get it.)
Initially, I thought I was being left out of having one of those doovers poking through into the cabin but I finally found one on the right hand side behind the accelerator pedal on my Aussie 06 Prius (right hand drive). Mine is coloured white and is quite attractive and appears to hold the plastic lining in place.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Orf @ Jul 23 2006, 06:34 PM) </div> My doover is white too. I think when they turn red it is a warning of impending engine failure. What's a bowser?
G'day Alnilam (yep I'm from Australia too) In Australia, we say 'petrol bowser' instead of 'petrol pump' as American's might call it. I do not know how it came about, ever since I was born people say petrol bowser. Hope that helps Cheers, Kent <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Alnilam @ Jul 24 2006, 11:40 AM) </div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kentricho @ Jul 23 2006, 07:36 PM) </div> G'day to you, Kent, It sure does. I took some on-line astronomy courses from Swinburne in Melbourne and had to learn a bit of real English. Missed bowser, though. Cheers!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kentricho @ Jul 23 2006, 07:36 PM) </div> The average American hasn't clue what petrol is. Most of us refuel our cars at the gas pump.
did we already cover boots, fenders, bumpers, and hoods? spanners, Whitworth Standard, ......metric is sooo bloody.... French
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jack Kelly @ Jul 23 2006, 01:19 PM) </div> OK, I got down there to see if I had one. I have a little black one. But..... while I was down inside looking, I discovered something else.... Way down, below the steering wheel is a little button. On it, there is a little arrow, pointing left and right, and the word "set." Now, what is that for?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jack Kelly @ Jul 23 2006, 04:19 PM) </div> I didn't spot it because it's not there. And anyway, it's in the front seat, not the back.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dulcimer @ Jul 24 2006, 04:27 PM) </div> That sets your low tire pressure light on the dash. If you have a smart key the button next to it turns it off
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(yorks @ Jul 23 2006, 03:02 PM) </div> I looked today. I have something similar but it doesn't look as nasty as yours. Lola's is white. She is an '05. I have to ask, how did you get down there to even notice? I clean her out and never noticed it before your post.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(wstander @ Jul 24 2006, 04:21 PM) </div> It goes without saying that the only country that truly speaks pure English is America! Fo Shizzle!
How is mine more nasty? Is yours more finished? I actually noticed at the dealership the day I bought the car. I'm really anal so I made sure to check EVERYTHING out before I committed. Hahaha. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Lola'05 @ Jul 24 2006, 08:10 PM) </div> Hahahah, you're hilarious, though I must admit, I was hesitant to post in case someone had mentioned it first as it seems a few members get all pissy for re-introducing topics. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jack Kelly @ Jul 23 2006, 04:19 PM) </div>
