Purchase 2007 with 155K miles?

If the battery is a Toyota OEM replacement, then it could be a reasonable deal.

If the battery is a medley of used ancient cells, then you could be looking at a replacement in the future.

Does this battery come with a transferable warranty that includes labor?

What sort of brake work was done?

 

I feel like that is a bit high. But it depends on your location. I just picked up my second Gen2 Prius. This one is loaded (Leather, bluetooth, b/u camera, nav). It is an 08 with 117k miles. I purchased it from a dealer for 5900. Just my $0.02

 

Bear in mind that those are the big two at that age. As long as you can see the paper work to confirm what was done a Toyota re battery and brakes (was it the brake actuator or something else?), I think it is fair value. I don't think the previous owner is making any profit on this car, even at that price $5500).

You could drive 200 miles, but would they really be better deals? You would be wondering about the HV battery and brake actuator.

 

Yeah, I suppose if it was a new toyota battery, sure. But if it was a refurb, I would say that's a different story.

 

If it was done by Toyota, it will be new. That is why you need to see the paperwork to verify. So many people say they put in a new battery, but when you look into it, they mean a refurb the is new to them, but in a lot of case the "refurb" contains internals that are older than the battery they took out, so not really new at all.

 

Depending where you are in Florida, it might be good if Todd from Tampa Hybrids was able to inspect the car. He is a very trusted expert here.
Todd also sells used Prii and lists a 2007 PKG 2 with 252k miles and a newer hybrid battery for $4995.

I would look at following:

- Press for $3500 or below as it's 11 years old vehicle regardless
- check shocks/suspensions (Its $1500 job or DYI $300)
- double CHECK Break actuator noise (every 30 seconds pressure valve on/off)
- any body damage
- 12V battery
- Driver Seat condition to see how rough usage of vehicle (Is it big chubby guy loved or 100lbs skinny gal driven)

 

Where in Florida are you that there’s not a lot of Prius? There everywhere in Tampa/st Pete area.

 

prius should be a dime a dozen these days, outside cali.

 

Craigslist in Tampa has 260 for sale. Most are g2s from 2 to 10000. There’s a 2007 with 15,000 miles
For $10000.

I see 50 within 50 miles of my zip on eBay. Some really cheap that almost certainly need a battery.A lot of active auctions.


Problem with this vintage car with 150k plus miles with original hybrid battery is your staring down the barrel at a new hybrid battery sooner than later and is usually the reason there selling the car.
My bought new 2007 at 10 years old at 110000 miles started showing serious hybrid battery deterioration.
So keep that in mind. If your a busy mom with children a bad hybrid battery will ruin your day and eliminate all gas savings for years. New factory battery is around $3500 installed.

Todd at tampahybrid is a competent battery rebuilder using g3 cells. So I personally would feel good driving away with a battery he has rebuilt compared to anyone else rebuilding it.

Failing hybrid battery is almost the most common post we see these days. Right behind posts about the vast mysteries of the little 12 volt battery.

 

Side curtain airbags were available in some option packages for 2005. Mine is an option 4, and includes those, plus HID headlamps and fogs (no rear cam).
