It might depend on your zoom level/extent. The more zoomed-in you are, the more street names you will see. If you're on the map screen and press the "map" button again, it should display the name of the street you're currently on.

There isn't anything special that I recall that makes street names appear or not. David
Are you talking about having the name of the street at the bottom of the screen all the time? If so, go to the Menu, Settings and go to the 3rd page. Then look down about 3/4 of the way. You'll see an option marked "OFF." Press the "Change" button. You'll then see the map screen with all the information that can be displayed. Tapping them will determine what stays on the map when you tap the "Off" button (turning that to "On" gives you the Zoom function, etc). At least, that's how it works on a 2005. I have the street name turned off. I can always bring it up by pressing the "Map" button on the steering wheel.

Sometimes it is nice to look ahead. I know that in big cities it shows names but just traveling a route is what I am talking about here.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(clifford @ Jul 23 2006, 07:02 AM) </div> OK, in that case, I'm pretty sure it's the scale. I have mine set at 700 feet (with the second screen much further out) so I have street names.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(clifford @ Jul 22 2006, 11:07 PM) </div> For US Prii, of vintage 2006: once you have the nav up and running on the mfd, simply press the "map" button on the steering wheel to get current address wherever your car currently is. It may be off some, since GPS and Post Office are not always synchronized.
I believe the OP is talking about streets nearby, not the one you're traveling on. The nav does NOT show every street name that you can see on the map. It only shows names for a handful of nearby streets. Even at the most-zoomed scale.
