Howye again! After my 2010 Prius (and my fie's 199 Camry, as well) got clobbered by a tree- then my wife's new car got hit 2 weeks later, I've been behind the wheel of 3 rental cars with rear-view cams. I've come to like this feature- partly because when my wife;s new car got hit, someone backed into it in a car park. One of my local Toyota dealers says it cannot add a back up cam to the 2014 Prius I just picked up. I've seen third-party backup cam kits online for $80-$100 or so. Does anyone have experience with these? are they worth it? Any advice/recommendations? If I can get one on to the car, I'd like to- but don;t want to go in totally blind (pun intended). Thanks! Be well -UF
I bought this "OEM Connect" camera on Amazon for my 2014. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD4242I It worked awesome and was indistinguishable from OEM equipment. Here's the video on how to install it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQV3TvLhvRE
Thanks for the link! Also apologies for my typo that made my message kind of unintelligible. It was my wife's Camry. Sometimes my fingers don't work properly. Be well -UF
Stopped by another local dealer today, and they referred me to a local car stereo shop that does the rear camera installations for them. Having one installed by them will actually be fairly inexpensive. I would rather have someone else run wiring and install things on my car, instead of messing it up all by myself. Be well -UF
