Not at all. I suspect the heating element is far enough under the surface to allow the outside to feel cool in your extreme temps when you initially sit down until the heat re-penetrates the upper layer? It cools off pretty fast.

 

Mmhh ... I reckon this feature is not applicable to European Prime, the back headrest shape is different and the supports look different too. Now I understand the reason why it was so difficult to fit Clazzio headrest cover on the back headrests!

 

There is a small black triangle at the middle of the lower edge of the windshield. I presume this is to help locate the vehicle on the road.

 

I hesitate now, as a non-Prius owner, to come into Prius Chat and be too critical of Prius. BUT...the large headrests on my Gen 3, was one of the aspects I disliked the most. Just like the picture the OP provides, that's how I felt I was forced to keep my headrests, for most of the time, whenever I did not have backseat passengers.
Even though people have complained about rearward visibility with the Prius, and mine did NOT have a back-up camera, I never was displeased with the visibility, except for when the headrests were up.
I have no idea about regulations that may or may not be in place, but I do know Honda is able to sell a subcompact Honda Fit with rear headrests that can be pushed down, even with the seat back. I think if that is at all possible it is a design Toyota should follow.

I'd say it's still a pretty positive if one of the biggest criticism's of Prius that I can site it the headrests. While I never liked them, keeping them folded forward "worked", so it wasn't a deal breaker or super big issue, just something I thought Toyota could improve.

Drive one of these a couple million miles and the headrests are not a problem.

 

The rear headrests also pull completely out, just as the Gen3 (US models) did. I have them out most of the time (they're in a bag inside the car), for additional rearward visibility, and it helps with folding down the rear seats a bit. Just remember that if there are passengers back there, you need the headrests in and adjusted properly, or heads could roll!

 

Years ago Consumers Report looked down on cars that didn't have three headrests in the back seat. I would think they have a big influence on anything about safety in all our cars. On the other side of the coin, you try to make cars safer and create another safety problem, blind spots in the back seat of your car. It's a catch 22 situation.

I would just say, with my memories of Prius ownership, the rear headrests were one of the few negatives.

I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle that I thought was absolutely perfect in design and function in every single aspect and again, if having to fold rear headrests forward is the worst criticism? That's really not too bad.

BTW, does anyone know how to make the buttons on the Advanced inside rearview mirror light up at night? Mine don't, so I can't see the button for opening my electric garage door!

Do you suggest that I use the light (flashlight) on my S7 (not Edge) to light up my Prime's mirror buttons? I'd rather grope in the dark!

The HomeLink buttons on my 4Runner do have blue LED's built in, but it is a HomeLink system that's built into the overhead and not the rearview mirror. I've not seen any illuminated HomeLink buttons that are installed on the rear view mirror.

What about glow in the dark paint? Just a drop or two on the button you use.
