I see a lot of people here that have serious problems and need their car every day to get to work and probably only have one car. I see a lot of people here that just enjoy tearing into the car and fixing it and if something is wrong they actually seem to enjoy the challenge. Which group do you fall into?

I'd say the latter, I'm more-and-more the pit crew. Except, not much goes wrong with it, and I'm already changing the oil every six months, so I've got no recourse but to pound a keyboard here half the day, well more than that...:oops:

And, my brain shorted-out or something when reading the title, which I first took as "Do you consider your hubby your hobby?". :ROFLMAO:

I bought my 2008 Prius new, had it for ten years and had about zero electrical problems with it. I changed the 12 V. battery when things started getting strange, and my biggie was those HID headlights. The only other mechanical problems were a noisy wheel bearing and I replaced the front strut assemblies. What I am saying is I didn't learn much in 10 years about the car because it didn't give me any trouble and I was still working sometimes 16 hour days that I really didn't have time for a hobby car.
When I signed up on Prius Chat I wasn't active until recently and have a renewed interest in all my cars. There is a big difference in the type of people over on the Lincoln forum and the Plymouth Prowler forum and Prius Chat, the difference is day and night.

And you just interact with members on the net;).

Try the in person route and you find the same thing :).

I’m on the Club Lexus forum and I find it to be much different :(.

The pleasant conversation keeps me here(y).

On of the forums I mentioned allows political topics and it really ruins the forum. I attend events with that forum and like the people but wish they could keep politics out it.

At the meet ups out here, we reserve a short period of time for politics at the beginning;).

Once it gets out of our system early, we get down to business (y).

I'm past climbing under cars - my days of older cars hopefully are over. When I had old VOLVOs, I was on the BRICKBOARD for help regularly.

My PRIUS is my daily driver - I get into it and drive. Should something go wrong, I want to have an idea what it would be, but get someone else to fix it.

The PriusChat group is great to work with.

I bought the Prius so I didn’t have to wrench very much on it. I do enjoy learning about it though. Spent a lot of time lurking before I bought my 17 three last week.

My car addiction time is spent wrenching on my 99 Miata that I instruct HPDE with. Also spend way too much time and $$ maintaining my 07 BMW 530i.

Definitely not a hobby. I bought the Prius as I felt it was the right thing to do knowing I was looking at about 30K miles a year driving. I enjoy the reliability. If and when something breaks I have no interest in fixing it myself. My wife and I have 3 vehicles: 2017 Prius 2, 2010 Mini and 2005 2500 Duramax Quad Cab 4X4. For the most part they all go and between those 3 vehicles and total combined mileage of about 300K miles a tow truck was needed 2 times.. for the truck for very odd reasons I might add. I think my Prius is a rather boring car but I got if for reliability and efficiency.

I don't have the knowledge, skills, tools, or place to work on my Prius, but I appreciate the opportunity to learn from those who do. I just don't like being taken advantage of. Knowledge is power! Thank you all for sharing.

    What about your after brain?
I assume before means before coffee? Or some other life-defining event?
