The problem is that the system can't play higher resolution videos anyway. The USB video function can only play:

MP4, WMV and AVI files can use the following
    resolutions: 128×96, 160×120,
    176×144 (QCIF), 320×240 (QVGA),
    352×240 (SIF), 352×288 (CIF), 640×480
    (VGA), 720×480 (NTSC), 720×576 (PAL)

I can't even play at half definition.

Agreed! I've had my Prime for 3 days now (hooray), but have been absolutely aghast at how terrible the interface is as a whole. The Navigation system is so burdensome... You would think Toyota would have nodded to the folks who are fluent in electronic devices/apps by giving the option to mirror OR use the default software interface. I can't even figure out where to mount my phone at this point to use it more effectively, given the dashboard control layout. Alas!

Yup... just got Prime Advanced Friday, first commute is tomorrow... I finally just re-mounted my iPhone on the left side of the windshield like I used to in my old Prius. I couldn't live without my Waze, even though I really liked the fact that I could Qi-charge my 8 plus. Having a phone mount and a cable draped across the dash is a real bummer... I'd much rather have the ability to use the giant useless display as a mirrored touch interface for my phone, or as a dedicated Waze app or something.

Not directly relevant, but why is the pause button on the bluetooth audio control so damned small? Am I missing something? It's like 1/4" square - not easy to find or hit while driving... maybe there's a wheel control for play/pause I'm missing, I need to read the manuals some more.

Make sure you apply for the Mass State rebate. I think it was around $1K

Yeah, I figured that out by reading something in the manual or online... totally made my day. Thanks!

The back up camera on the 2018 Prime Advanced is on the top part of the 11.6" screen.

The 11 display and the truly pathetic software astounds me. As op suggested above, there is apparently no method to modify add and some utility to the display and software. My prime advanced is 3 months old. My expectation was that the 19 would finely bring replacement or at least some improvements that could be installed in earlier Primes. But ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

    ANY ideas out there?

Are there any mirroring solutions for android and the 11 display? I come from a 4 year old Sonata (ancient, in tech terms) and I'm spoiled with android auto being a free retrofitted solution for most of that time.

Beat Sonic makes a kit. It’ll require the nav bypass as well.

Could you link me to it? The ones I'm seeing tend to say "not compatible with 11" screen." Before buying the car, I swear I thought I saw one that would work.

Same. I swear I saw one that showed the Beat Sonic installer playing YouTube on the lower half.

Hmm maybe it is just for the 7” screen.

Yeah you're right. There's only one for the 7" screen. I must be thinking about a nav bypass only for the 11.6" screen (and I guess it wasn't YouTube but maybe videos downloaded to a USB thumbdrive).

Might be worth a call to see if they made one for the 11.6" screen.

Yea, it'll let you play videos off the USB drive and disable the upper navigation screen, but it won't let you mirror your phone.

The best way would be to hijack the reverse camera input and trick the display into taking the video signal out of your phone and putting it in place of the rev cam video.

It would leave a void below it, but you could probably mirror the phone that way. Just need to convince the display you're in reverse and to use an aux video feed instead of the rear camera.

Nice. And, yes, I would be very interested. However, enabling it to control entune may be a problem, and the Toyota warranty issue is a concern as well, especially if Db17's "guess" is true.
