I haven't seen a rear wing for the Gen 4 Prius yet.

I was referring to the split type rear-window. Wonderful in that it gives a higher boot space, but not as good for rear vision, or rear wiper.

My 20 year old daughter's 16mpg Xterra was in the shop and she borrowed my Gen 2 for the weekend. I was curious If she would consider owning a Prius after enjoying 44mpg and her response was she felt like she was in a "clown car".:LOL:

The air flow for the lower rear window seems to push any dirt onto the glass. It seems to stay dirty.

It's also plastic/perspex/plexiglass/polycarbonate - which may possibly attract dirt particles?

    It's what's known as a design feature. :ROFLMAO::confused:

Is that why I was attracted? Hey, what you saying?

Does she buy her own gas? It makes a difference when it is coming out of mommy and daddy's pocket and not hers. lol

I wouldn't say there's a direct correlation between hybrid and weird styling; there's a lot of strange, strange design "features" of late, not exclusive to hybrid/electric vehicles.

The one common denominator of the stranger features: they are near pointless, even detrimental, say to utility, aerodynamics, ease of repair.

Because.... it's not an Eclipse - they're just using the name...

so, instead of Eclipse crossover, CROSS for short :p (still not an Eclipse)

    Isn't it an ECLIPSE overseas?

We get that a bit over here - some of our names are different. Ford went to bring in a new car here (EDGE) only to find that another company had already copyrighted the name - hence it's an ENDURA here.

In terms of design, I think the Teslas look very 1990s

Rav4, Camry and Avalon hybrids had a pretty conservative styling for awhile.

Not since they introduces the big black grille. That is not a conservative look, IMHO. Common, yes Conservative No.

Have you guys seen the new Honda Civic? My brother, a big Honda fan who owns an older civic SI, absolutely hates the design of the new Civic..especially the rear :

    https://article.images.consumerreports.org/prod/content/dam/CRO%20Images%202017/Cars/July/CR-Cars-Inline-2017-Honda-Civic-Si-back-07-17

Point is that it is not just us hybrid owners that have issues with change. :D

Personally, I think the Gen3 Prius is 'classic' hatchback design. Gen4 is OK but it is clear that they were designing for demographic.

Agreed, although being dated isn't always bad. Cars of the past with dated designs are often highly prized today.

My son has a dark blue one that masks much of the ugliness. One day while visiting, he parked beside my Gen 4 Prius. Here was his comment while looking at the front of both cars.
"People say my car (Civic) looks angry. Your car (Gen 4 Prius) looks really angry."
