Hello, We recently purchased a Prius V 5 with the JBL Premium audio system. However, the system does not have the same level of richness that we came to expect from our 2004 Prius with JBL audio. I am looking to upgrade the speakers, add an amp, or add a sub (or some combination of the three). If I add a sub, I was thinking of putting a box under one of the front seats. Can anyone suggest what works best? Also, any pics or help with 'gotchas' in the process would be appreciated. I'm looking to keep this within a budget ($600?). Thanks in advance for looking at this, and any help you can provide, Nico
It already has an amp under the seat. There's a 3-band EQ available, play with that for a while and see if you get it dialed in to your liking.
Rdgrimes, Thank you... I’ll look under the seat to see if I have an extra output for a sub. For the 3-band EQ, are you referring to the on -screen EQ in the radio head? That adjustment works, but does not address the lack of richness ( which seems to be a lack of bass). That is why I’m thinking a sub is needed, or a better set of speakers in the doors?
Bump... Has anyone upgraded their Prius V Level 5 (with JBL) with better speakers, or a Sub? Please let me know how this went. I'd to know if a speaker upgrade is enough to make the bass sound better, or if a sub is the only way to do it. Thank You, Nico
I found another thread on JBL system upgrades. I'm going to go with a JBL Basspro SL underseat sub and hook it into the AMP under the front seat. Not certain on the wiring yet, but I should be able to find something online.
