I'd be surprised if it didn't, though I think the recommended oil change interval for Toyota hybrids is now 10k miles.
You would think they'd have finally made the 10K oil change more official by now, since it had been changed from 5k to 10k miles like, oh, 7 years ago? But my guess is that the dealers will still nag their customers to have their oil changed every 5K since it means more money for them.
Does the gen3 have maintenance reminder pop up every 5000 miles? My gen2 did, but the oil change interval was 5000 back then. Now I have a car that pops the reminder up based on a mathematical guess as to when the oil additives are actually used up.
yes, every 5k. tyre rotation and inspections as mike said. plus cabin filter at 15k, only takes a few seconds to reset it. and toyota gives you the first 5 for free. so it's pertinent to them as well.
The book recommends changing at 5000 if you drive short trips under 5miles ,dirt roads and heavy equipment in the car, I'd say pull the dip stick and manual check if black needs to be changed
Thanks very much for your help! I had the oil changed, etc, in November - the service department advised doing it every 6 months (November was 6 months since purchase) rather than every 5k to maximize the benefit of the free service. Glad I can change the screen myself rather than resorting to something like Carista to reset the counter. Hope I remember the lesson in 9 months when I'm up to 10k.
Just as an FYI, you only get 2 free oil changes in the first 2 years or 25k miles whichever comes first. Of course, if they are giving you a free oil change every 5k, I would definitely take advantage of that. Just make sure it isn't only the first two that are free
I found this on page 572 of my 2018 Owner's Manual. Thanks for directing me to the right neighborhood
