My information screen reset while I unplugged my IPod. The vehicle was moving. I hope this is not the beginning of something wrong with the car.
The symptom you describe matches a known issue, “Intermittent rebooting when connecting/disconnecting the iPod USB.” Ask your dealer to install the Multimedia Software Update described in Toyota technical service bulletin T-SB-0236-17 Rev1, “Entune Audio Head Unit Software Update (Denso),” revised January 11, 2018. For reference, the update applies to Entune Premium Audio systems with panel ID numbers E7051 and E7052 printed near the lower right corner of the head unit. Software versions R10A5400, R10A5430, R10A5500, and R10A5520 are replaced with version R10A5530. The update file is 16TABDNA-AA01_0004.kwi, available with a Professional Diagnostic subscription to techinfo.toyota.com. The update is done with a USB flash drive, not a Toyota Techstream diagnostic system. I don’t recommend a do-it-yourself approach, however; if something goes wrong, replacing a failed head unit could be very expensive.
Mine did that when I was using a cheap cord from china for my iphone 6. Replaced the cord with an "apple certified" version, and it never happened again.
Just saw this string... I had my right side screen next to the Speedometer screen go completely black yesterday. It came back a short time later after another trip (I was running multiple errands so turning car off/on multiple times). But, then went dark again later. The Prius Prime logo doesn’t come up on the screen when turning the car on either. It does seem like to car isn’t fully booting, etc. Jumped in the car this morning, and it’s completely black. I have been using a three usb plug charger plugged into the 12V jack behind the cup holders and the charging cords may be cheaper non Apple cords (I’m not sure as I have a bunch for 3 cars and the house - plus teenagers who take them, etc). I’m wondering if I’ll need to take the car to the dealer or if it’s something I shut off. Jeff Liu - did you ever get your situation resolved? If so, was it via a trip to the dealer for the update Elektro describes above? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just happened to me last night in my 2017 Prius Prime Premium with aprox 13,000 miles, has the 11.5 inch multimedia display. I was going in reverse, backing into my garage, at the same time I turned off my headlights (two turns/notches). Suddenly the radio turned off. I thought I had just lost the radio signal (it was just fm radio, not xm...I don't have a subscription), then I heard the music of the start up menu. I thought for a second the car had turned off, but I was still moving and the back-up camera WAS displayed on the display, even though underneath it was obviously restarting. So weird. Scared me. Lots of these posts I'm reading say it has to do with the usb or blutooth. But I did NOT have any usb plugged in and I have NEVER set up my blutooth in the car because of all the problems I've read about. The weather was very mild, in the mid 60s, not raining, I had only been driving for 7 miles. I thought the turning off of the headlights tripped something, because it seemed to happen right when I turned them off while I was driving in reverse. The fact that I could still see the reverse camera on the display was the really weird thing. If the monitor reset, I would have thought that I wouldn't be able to see anything on it, but I COULD see the backup camera on it. Does this information help with troubleshooting the problem?
