I'm very happy with my 2012 Prius, and with only 30,000 miles, I'm years away from a new car. That said, I'm interested in up thegrading the radio and the backup camera. How difficult is the install of, for example, the Pioneer AVIC-5100NEX? Is it better to use the dealer or a third party installer? I'm looking to replace Entune with Car Play. There are several back cameras on Amazon that seem much better than the stock models. I'd like to have backup lines to help me back into spaces. Thanks in advance for any advice. Mike
Crutchfields for the audio, possibly for the camera which would be part of the new audio system, check the resistance of the current speakers, they may need to be replaced also if they are a different amplitude than the new head unit. Crutchfield includes installation directions and all needed parts, just scrutinize all dealing with them.
Whatever I buy will come from Crutchfield. Their support is amazing. I called about an issue with a receiver, and the tech spent more than an hour with me -- I was expecting five minutes -- taking me through every aspect of my unit. They gained a customer for life.
Did you end up replacing the camera? I'd love an upgrade to the stock one with the features you mentioned.
