I've been having some fun lately trying to get a little more speed out of my 2010 Prius. I've been measuring my results using Torque and an OBDLink MX, since this screen is one of the defaults on Torque I figured this might be a good place to collect some more information. My model should be doing 0-60 in 10.0 sec and the quarter mile in 17.6 sec @ 79 mph. Owing to the wheels and tires, it looks like I have about a half second of time to pick up... Instructions: Plug an OBD2 reader into the port below and to the left of the steering column. Pair the device with your phone. Download and install Torque from the app store. Set up your vehicle vehicle profile in the Torque settings. You'll need to look up the weight of your particular trim model. Then go to live stats, swipe to this screen, fine a stretch of tarmac that is not a public road and wait for it to say READY. So far, no engine mods for me but, and not to thread jack, or unless you have a thread about it, thoughts on that intake? Are you seeing those numbers with the 18's as well?
Here's my latest, just playing with a Japanese Siecle Minicon Pro seeing what I can get out of it...so far so good! I cut a nearly half second off of my zero to sixty time and the quarter mile time by 0.374. The intake is nice, I quite like it. It makes the car sound much meaner and the fitment is perfect. I'm just now getting around to testing performance with these two gadgets I got from Japan, so I can't tell if it actually makes a difference or not as far as performance is concerned. It definitely sounds better though, and it looks good. The numbers I posted are with the everything I listed in the original post, so yep with the 18's! I managed to get my 0-60 down to the 9 second range, my goal is to break into the 8's....eventually.
Anyone at all want to help me collect the data? The jokes are great but I'd love to have something to compare to.
It makes the car sound much meaner Jeeeez, Chip, it's a Prius !!! How mean can it be?????????? This statement should not be allowed..ever...again. I just about sprayed my dinner all over my computer screen.................Honestly, I love my Prius, and no disrespect intended, but this has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read.
The engine sounds better with the intake. Sorry if the way I phrased it upset you so much. The engine sounded awful without the intake. Now it has a nice growl to it.
No matter subject -- be it cars, computers, education, anything -- pushing the performance limits leads to innovation. I applaud your efforts Chip! Keep us posted.
I feel kind of bad. This thread got my curiosity up. I have the OBD link LX and the app. The app has a performance section which measures all that stuff from a standing start and starts recording and calculating as soon as you press the accelerator. This is my completely stock 2007 touring model with HV battety that has the Gen 4 modules. I pulled onto shoulder of highway at 5:30 this morning on the way to work. Very light traffic with plenty of huge gaps. Put the hammer down and pulled back into the right lane and let off gas at 95 to make sure i did a full quarter mile 60ft time 2.34 seconds @ 24.9mph 330ft. 6.74. @51.0 1/8. 10.35. @67.1 1000ft. 13.44. @76.4 1/4. 15.90. @ 83.3 0-10. 0.58 seconds 0-20. 1.76 0-30. 2.90 0-40. 4.37 0-50. 6.14 0-60. 8.49 0-70. 10.95 0-80. 14.37
The high torque from the electric motor really is impressive from 0-10 mph. Ron Burgundy would have been the perfect spokesperson for it. 0-10 in half a second, 2 glove boxes. 50 MPG.
Thanks for posting TMR, looking quite a bit faster than my times! Especially at the high end quarter mile time. I wonder how much help you're getting with those batteries. I was under the impression that Gen2 was slower than Gen3, but this doesnt appear to be the case.
Now that I have a data cable, here's a screen capture. I'll probably do it a few more times just to verify. Unfortunately for me, I was going to work a bit earlier than usual due to a meeting I needed to attend. I'll have to keep leaving early so I can have the same traffic.
yo wait... Gen 4 modules, what do u mean by that? did u change ur gen 2 modules with gen 4 or? im just so confused now lol, u litterally took off 2-3 seconds from the original 0-60 speed. That in a gen 2 that ssupposedly slower then the gen 3 and 4?
