I haven't. My current JL sub hits pretty hard but then think it would be pretty bad nice person to have a matching sub on the right side to match the left cause why not lol

Actually it's the other way around. EU vehicle lighting standards are much more comprehensive than SAE standards. We didn't get decent headlights in the U.S. until 1994 when the SAE finally relented and adopted slightly modified EU standards.

 

This is how I spent my Saturday night. Finally got a chance to installed the projector fog lights! They're so much better than the stock ones! So glad I got these. Thanks @m3pare!

I used the term "SAE" only because you did. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is an advisory organization and not a governmental regulatory agency. The SAE can recommend automotive standards but the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are the U.S. government agencies that specify the standards that vehicles sold in the U.S. must meet.

In my opinion, the SAE has done far more harm than good to the U.S. auto industry and automobile owners in the U.S. over the past several decades by pushing its own agenda and ignoring safety improvements made outside the U.S.. For example, the SAE lobbied against allowing halogen headlights with replaceable bulbs for over 20 years after they became the norm in Europe.

The "rising star" in advisory organizations for automotive standards in the U.S. is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS has been "encouraging" vehicle manufacturers to implement safety improvements by publishing widely read evaluations of safety systems that are starting to impact the sale of vehicles that perform poorly.

Here are some examples of how crude U.S. automotive standards have been:

* A single 2-filament bulb behind a red lens is still allowed to be used as a combination tail light, brake light and turn signal. There is no requirement for separation of functions or for amber rear turn signals even the NHTSA's own statistics have shown that amber rear turn signals reduce crash frequency.
* There is no requirement for side mounted turn signals that can be seen by others who are driving along side.
* There is no requirement for rear fog lights even though massive pileups of vehicles frequently happen in the U.S. in snow and fog conditions. Rear fog lights are now permitted but very few vehicles have them - far less than 1%.
* Headlight washers were formerly prohibited and are now allowed although relatively few vehicles have them - even those with discharge headlights that are known to produce excessive glare when dirty are not required to have them. Headlight washers were formerly available on the most expensive Prius and Prius v but are no longer available.
* Daytime running lights (DRL) are allowed but not required.

I could spend hours giving you examples but I'll stop here.

Our 2012 Prius v Five is a good example. I've spend many hours rectifying exterior lighting safety deficiencies by installing side turn signals, a rear fog light and a DRL kit. At least our Prius came with headlight washers but that was only because it is the most expensive trim, i.e. the "Five".

 

mhmm i see... in Norway cars "can have " rear fog lights and stuff to, but it isnt any requirement as of what ive found out... Drivers in Norway r actually more against it then for it cause its wayyy to many drivers use the rear fog light when its not needed. So they blind cars behind them and stuff... its happen some pretty serious accidents here cause of people using the rear foglight when its truly not needed.

The other features here i definetly agree with u on tho, DRL r actually a requirement here now for all new cars. Same is side turn signals. headlight washers isnt a requirement tho, but never been illegal. I gotta say i love the red turn signals tho, just the look, i can imagine why it isnt as safe as amber tho.

A stupid rule here i hate tho is that its not legal to have red markers on the rear side... Like we had to replace the red covers with orange covers on our firebird. why take away the red ones? like... its so much easier to see which way the car is pointing if its red on the back and yellow in the front. But yea, thats illegal on just american cars, but when volvo and BMW got red markers on the rear side its apparently all fine... same with orange front facing parking lights (in norway its only legal with two white front facing parking lights), BMW had that in like 2009 and that was all fine lol. But still american cars thats imported r not allowed to have it...

Norway got so many stupid car rules tho lol, a country that has never ever produced one car thinks they r experts on car safety.
*For example in 1989 a guy wanted to import a brand new El Camino from the states and he wanted it to get registred as a "van". But the states road authority didnt allow it based just on one thing "it was to pretty to be a van"... 2 years later the road authority lost tho. And it was legal to register it as a van or pickup.
it also took Amcar 28 yrs to get the 89 el camino driving lights legal in Norway...


*it was also a stupid rule here in the 70`s that said "all 4 wheels gotta lock themselfs at heavy braking"... So a 1977 Lincoln with ABS brakes in the rear did not get plates in Norway because it didnt lock all 4 wheels. The road athourity literally said "we dont want such stupid american inventions on cars here". it took a few years but guess what? they lost again and in the late 80`s it became legal and 5 years later a requirement to have ABS brakes.
By some reason the states road authority in Norway have always been against every american (and German) safety inventions.

Sorry for the out of topic post here but now u guys know some of the history behind Norway`s old stupid rules and regulations lol.

First mods on a two week old (for me) car- put toolbox liner in the bottom of the subfloor storage and center console cubbys.
