Has anyone purchased side moldings for their Prime and installed them their self? Any place besides the dealership to purchase factory side moldings ? Are they hard to install and line up properly ? Thx, Ben
The ones on my prime came pre-installed but I did purchase and install the moldings on my Highlander. It was definitely a clean well, measure 5 times, stick once type of task. The moldings simply stick on the side of the car. Nothing more complicated than pealing the double-sided-tape and pressing onto the car...Assuming you have them in the right spot and the spot is clean so the tape holds. I used painters tape to outline the exact spot based in the instructions...That made it pretty straightforward to ensure they were placed in the right spot and allowed me to step back and look at the relative placement of both pieces on the side of the car before actually sticking them on.

I had a body shop install a set on my 2012 Prius I think it was like $50 labor. I had the dealer get and install them on my Prime as part of the sale.
Ordered a set of side moldings for my Prime online and they have arrived with no instructions. Anyone know where I can get the installation instructions for a 2017 Prime?
A quick search found the following link: 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Body Side Molding They link to the installation instructions I posted below. The instructions say 2016 Prius but the part numbers match the prime so I'm assuming the instructions ( and moldings) are common across both the regular Prius and the Prius prime.
Thx for the link CT. I saw your 2016 gen 4 installation instructions yesterday. Just wanted to make sure I had the right measurements when installing. Especially since the Prime is a bit different than a Gen 4, I think.
i did them myself...took about 2 hours...it would help if it was 55F or better (i did mine last summer)...have plenty of painters tape and a yard stick or meter stick /straightedge...(works better that way)...make sure the doors are very clean and dry...otherwise take your time and follow the enclosed instructions on measurements...on the prime they will not be perfectly level...there is a slope "down" back to front...
I always recommend buying side moldings for any car, given realities of inconsiderate other drivers in parking situations. If it prevents a few dents and scratches, it's well worth the money. I had it on my Gen 3 Prius and have it on my current Avalon Hybrid. It's a must buy option for me.
I don't remember exactly. It was exactly what the online price was at Toyota.com. You can find it when you are putting together a car on their web site.
You can go to truecar.com and select the prius prime. After selecting the color, you can select "I want to build my own" in the bottom corner of the options window. From here you can see the MSRP and invoice of each option. Body side moldings show-up as MSRP=$209 and Invoice=$125 They are a port installed option
Also, does anybody have a picture of the side molding AND aero side splitters on exterior color Magnetism Blue? I'm definitely getting the side molding but I'm not sure how black aero side splitters would look on Magnetism Blue.
I found Magnetism Blue with side moldings and aero side splitters! I already bought the moldings. I think I’m going to get the splitters as well!
