This was on a mostly level 2-lane side road - no traffic to speak of and I was using every trick I have learned to maximize my mileage- BUT- I am still impressed. It was only 10 miles & I understand that this is not going to be my mileage- but it was fun posting to Facebook and sending texts to friends...

I am getting 50-55 MPG with my everyday driving it like a regular gasoline engine car.

    I LOVE my 2017 Prius 2 Eco. . .

Was the car started cold (@61F ambient) or with the engine already warmed up? Makes a BIG difference...

Well EXCUSE me- you ask me a couple days later and I guessed I got it wrong-------->BFD...

I live in Oklahoma and we have erratic weather here. In the last week or so it has been between -3 F and into the 60's F.

I did not remember I just gave it my best guess- I did not realize I was being graded on how accurate my memory was about the temperature was 3 or 4 days before.

I am in middle of setting up a new LLC and getting 2 houses on the market so I have alot on my mind.

If you think I am lying you know where you can stick it.

I was just excited to see these numbers- I thought others here might be as well- I was wrong.

I have only owned my Prius for 11 days and I was excited about 89.3 MPG and I don't really give a F**K what the Temperature was.

It seems like every one of these On-Line groups have some "Old Timers" whose only thrill in life is demeaning Newbies. . .It just was a little quicker for one of them to pop up here.

You, my "friend", need to get a life.

I am so new to all of this I did not even realize/remember that temp showed on my picture.

I started the car in my driveway and drove the 10.4 miles... Period.
Since the pix showed the temp- why did you even bother to ask.
I got in the car in my Driveway - started it up - and drove....PERIOD- End of story.

Man- I am sorry I even posted this...I will not do so again.

Congratulations on your new Prius, is this your first one.

I had my first one ten years and got my second one in November and the love affair started all over again.

Sorry you have been offended, but this always happens from time to time. The printed word is regularly misinterpreted by all of us, so not you alone. Furthermore, I don't expect the post you perceived as hyper critical of you was meant to attack you. Please don't be disheartened, just put it behind you and move on. This is how it gets to you when you've gotten involved with Prius Chat. Some say it's a terminal fixation, but nobody reeeelly knows.

Please lose the attitude - I was just questioning the information provided, which didn't make sense. Geez...

Your 'you must have been driving real slow' is the offensive remark. Could you have simply asked a question about the temperature range without that comment?

With over 1,700 posts I'm sure you have had some information exchanges with many members. Why can we not keep the conversations on point and civilized on this site and not send comments like the one you sent which I noted above? Reading comments like that seriously drags down any confirmation that this site is anything but a Facebook clone.

See what I mean! An innocent remark, a sharp reply and we get aggression. Truly, we are better than this.... Unless it's me that's seen red, that is. I've always got a darn good reason for it! :sneaky:

My "driving real slow" comment was in reference to a 20-30 degree temperature increase over a 10 mile trip. The only way the ambient temperature could have increased by that amount would be to have driven real slow, say, from 10 AM to 2 PM, as the day warmed up. Nothing offensive about it.

NOTE: This IS the internet, where seemingly innocuous statements can be misconstrued by even the best of us. If anyone was "offended", I apologize, but I will not take back my comments having now explained them...

Has anyone ever heard of a weather front, the interface between a warm airmass and a cooler airmass?

Yup! Our temperature just dropped 5° almost instantly. Forecast cals for a drop of 14° in 2 hours later today.

In most of the Internet forums I've participated in since Dial-up BBS's, CompuServe, and Genie (yeah forever) the Newbie forum section always had rules that encouraged the established members to uphold a higher level of patience while in the newbie forum. Whether a site has that or not, it's healthy for the longevity of a site if members do this.

I try to do this, but I admit it's hard sometimes and written words can often be taken exactly opposite of what was intended.

Hey Buddy- you are the one with the s**tty attitude.

My attitude was just 'excited' about the outstanding performance of my new Prius-->Which you felt a need to ridicule.

With people like you onboard I am surprised that you get/keep many "Newbies" here...
