Do you own a 2017 Prius 2? If so, please check something for me. With headlights OFF are the Radio Volume and Tuning knobs lit up to identify? With headlights ON are the Radio Volume and Tuning knobs lit up to identify? On my car there is writing above both buttons that is almost impossible for me to read with head lights OFF and at with headlights ON, the writing cannot be read at all. However with headlights ON, there is a sweeping arc above each. Do I have a indicator panel failure? Thanks!
I think this is your problem: Find your dash light brightness changer thingy. When indicator/dash lights are at the brightest setting the lighting above the radio knobs will go off. One click dimmer and voila! The little slash above the knob to guide you to the knob in total darkness will come on.
The point of the OP is the text above the knobs cannot be read. In other markets, the radio does not even have knobs. I do not tend to use the radio, but I turned it on for this test. Pushing the left button shows that it mutes the audio, but how do you turn it off? I know, I can check the manual later.
Dash lights or MFD display? Dash lights have dimmer on dash to the left of the steering wheel. MFD display is a menu option. IIRC both have different settings depending on whether the headlights are on or not.
