A quick, cheap and easy mod I made shortly after my recent purchase of a 2005 Prius was to buy this small aftermarket antenna. I wasn't a big fan of the stock 'horse whip' antenna and this was much cheaper than the $70+ shark fin antennas I could find. The thread needed for the Prius was included (albeit taped to the package) but for $10 plus S&H, I couldn't be happier. I haven't really tested reception as I have installed the GROM iPod adapter and don't use the radio, but as far as aesthetics go it's a perfect fit.

Best $10 I spent last year - getting that short antenna was so worth it! (thanks to Luke H). Also got LED interior lights...that's all the mods for now.

My favorite mod, The Daytime DRL's in the turn signal socket, that are both Amber and White in the same package. About $300, depending on how carried away you get replacing everything incandescent with LED's!

The keep your battery mod for extended non driving situations...less than $75

The $200 or less Audio Category...

Amateur Radio and Antenna install, $650 or so!

    Hi Jerry -

I'm working on this very project right now. It turns out that I have a custom spring place just ten minutes from my house. They can make a set of progressive springs (same rate as stock) that are 1" higher. They claim 375# increase in carrying capacity with the same ride height as the factory springs. Is that worth $300 to you? I think it is to me.

    Hey darelldd -
How did your lift project work out?
The Prius reminds me of a Honda CRX I once owned - threatening to bottom-out and more vulnerable to road debris.
This will alter aerodynamics - have you observed measurable impacts on handling and/or mileage?
    Thanks! David

    This is a great question.

People really like the TRD Sportivo kit for (I think) celica. Msupposed to give a much sportier, stiffer feel without hurting your back.

    Perfect for us grown-ups.

I recently put on 17" vision wheels along with a white VG shark fin. Nothing too extreme, yet noticeably upgraded. couldn't be happier ;)

Hi all! New Prius owner as of today, not sure if this is the right thread to ask but is there a place online that I can still source the trd springs? All I’m seeing on line is for the 3rd gen

Haven't seen any TRD ones for sale for a 2nd gen here in the US. You can easily find H&R Springs or Tanabe NF210s though.
