Driving down the highway the other day my 2004 stopped accelerating went into acc mode and had to pull over on the shoulder. The ready symbol turned off while all other dash lights remained on. Had towed home since it would only restart for 10 seconds then do the same. Once home checked codes and first it said cylinder misfire so inreplaced spark plugs (which weere bad) that code then cleared.. A new code about air filter came up so that was replaced. That code is also now cleared. Still doing the same sitting idle and not allowing ign on. Checked codes again and it is saying P3190 poor engine power. I have cleaned MAF and throttle made sure tank was full oil full and 12v battery is reading 12.6. The area i live is has had below freezing temps for 2 weeks now. Please help

I think my failure could have been also related to the cold weather, it's been sub 0s every day for the past few weeks. There will be a lot of other users here ready to lend better advice than me. A LOT has been covered in my current thread. One user, SFO, even listed the complete troubleshooting guide for this issue, which is definitely worth doing if you're savvy enough.

Has your HV battery ever been replaced? You've gotta be really close if you haven't since it's an 04. Have you experienced any engine ping or fuel line issues prior to this?

The HV battery isnt the hybrid battery correct? Hybrid battery was not replaced but the other regular battery was less then a year ago.. Its voltage is 12.6. No engine ping or fuel line issues i am aware of. My boyfriend has been doing trial and error with the things i listed above... Only code now is the poor engine power.

You have a good boyfriend! (y) keep him around. HV is the hybrid battery. Which OBD code reader does he have?

The hybrid hasnt been replaced but that would cause the code for poor engine power? I was thinking it would throw a code specifically for the hybrid system if that needed replaced.. Im not sure the code reader he is using to be honest.

Well, when my HV battery failed last summer, it did indeed throw battery codes. However, some code readers do not actually read all the codes that may be present in the computer. How many miles? I do suspect it could be the HV in this case.

Hopefully some other much smarter users here will chime in soon, I've shared about all I know. I'm still struggling to have mine fixed two weeks later. :(

One important note: I HIGHLY recommend not trying to restart it any more. The HV battery will completely discharge (if it's not already) and then you'll need a new battery either way. If you read through my thread, you will see what happened.

    Where are you located?

Possibly suspect the fuel pump? If the HV battery is showing a full charge, that's good. May be the same issue as mine.

So your saying the engine try’s to start it turns over but won’t stay running?

Engine performance 3190 on this site has been your out of gas or the throttle body is hopelessly clogged. Is it possible it’s never been cleaned?

Oh and you didn’t just get an oil change did you. 3190 has also been Oil extremely overfilled at Jiffy and or dealer.
    What’s the dipstick read?

    Any luck?

Do you have a trusted mechanic nearby who has a Toyota code reader? Otherwise, Toyota will charge you $129 for a diagnostic. Sometimes they waive the fee if you have the repair done with them. Be wary, they will probably throw a ton of repairs at you since your car is so old with high mileage. You have no obligation to take them up on any of the repairs besides what's necessary to get it running again.

Given that it is over a year ago and no posts and no logins since, probably fixed and no need to visit Priuschat anymore.

Doesn't help you if you're looking to find an answer here, but not to worry, there are many more P3190 threads to search out for answers.

BTW, if you're looking for answers for the car mentioned in your profile, you should be looking in the Gen 3 forums. Use Search > More... > Advanced Search to limit your searches to the Gen 3 forums.
