For all of you who have been struggling with a broken headlight leveling sensor and who have had the terminals break off in the connector when you remove it: The connector is actually the same connector as on the Lexus 2000-2005 IS300 antilock brake sensor (if you can get your hands on one) so you don't have to go and buy a whole new harness. I got one for $20 on ebay. Just cut off the connector and either splice the wires together or re-pin the connector. If you splice the wires together, the Prius pink wire goes to the IS300 red wire, the Prius blue wire goes to the IS300 yellow wire, and the Prius black wire goes to the IS300 black.
I did the same thing only from an IS250 which has headlight levelling sensors. Installed the used harness and sensor nearly 4 years ago - no problem with it since then. It was really annoying when it was malfunctioning. Headlights pointed every which way until the sensor was finally fixed.
can you tell me what key words you would use for a search for this? I'm having a hard time finding the right thing. Or a link to something.
I got the same issue with my 2005 prius. Looking for harness connector the ine attached to body.. couldn't fins one yet.. if you find it can you please let me know any info part no or from where you bought it anything that help me out to locate. Thanks
Thanks so much for the trashcat! I spent an hour looking over Toyotas today for that connector with no luck. I'll look for the IS300 connector next week when I go back. And FWIW, I've always thought highly of the engineers at Toyota but this headlight levelling system is really Rube Goldberg!
