If you have your garage opener's owner's manual, it should tell you the steps. If not, go online and see if it is available. basic steps are: hit a button on the opener to activate listen mode hold a button on the car's mirror until you get a flashing light or a beep wait 5 seconds and try the car's button to open the garage door. That's about all that was needed with my 2010.
