I just completed the LED Accent light on my brand new 2017 Prius Prime Premium. I just couldn't see paying over $4,000.00 more for the few extras that you get. Besides I don't need HUD as the Speedo and the 11" screen show me enough already - including navigation. Anyway, I took lots of pics and made a PDF and would like to know how to do this because there are about 40 pics with descriptions in total. I can upload the PDF to a cloud like Google Drive or some other one if needed i.e. Drop Box. Please let me know as I would like to do this in the most efficient manner possible. A few photos are uploaded. I was able to upload the PDF but I didn't think it would go as it is 4MB in size. I also changed all (and I mean all) of the interior leds to cool white including the foot-wells. Why Toyota put those ugly regular bulbs with the yellowish tint in is beyond me on such a technologically advanced vehicle. Please also let me know if I have violated any rules.

It's probably an economy issue - I would presume they are more expensive for negligible efficiency gain.

Personally, I love the HUD - rarely look at the other display. It's definitely something I would put on my MUST-HAVE list next time I go buying a car.

William how easy is it to change the foot well bulbs and what size are they? Same as the puddle lights?

The footwell bulbs in my Advanced are amber LEDs. I looked at them yesterday as I was changing the other interior bulbs to LEDs.

Unless you're looking for something else, I think the PDF you uploaded here is just fine.

    Also, great job!

I took them out and drilled (3/16" bit DON'T go all the way through just enough to get the bulb out of the way.) out the yucky amber light (very hard to get out and used a carb jetting drill bit to get two new holes next to the metal pads the other bulbs were soldered to) and put in these instead. I just took them out of their plastic housing then soldered them into the exact place I took the amber bulbs out of. You just have to be sure to get the + & - sitting the correct way.

great job - what a pos to do though!

did you have any thoughts about running white LEDS all the way up and maybe squeezing the weights around the amber leds?

Impressive work.. I will try to do the same by adding led to the empty spots. One concern is the hot glue method. Do u have any issue in the hot summer condition and causing hot glue to melt and shifted led? Maybe I should use silicon glue.

If you want to use the other glue that's perfectly fine. I have not had any issues and don't expect any because I use the high temp sticks and it would have to get above 160 degrees to melt it.

Would it be possible to just bake the lights instead of using a hot air gun?

I'm very proficient in using the hot air gun but it must be hard to get consistent heating all the way around.

It was not that difficult to do with the hot air gun. I don't bake lights at all never tried it. I would research what it would do to LEDs before attempting that process.

I've baked headlights before by preheating the oven to 225 F, turn off the oven, and Insert the headlights in on a cardboard tray for like 10 mins.

But I am pretty good with hot air tools, since I use it everyday at work when reworking surface mount components on circuit boards so I might try your method instead. Your tutorial is very informative. I would never dare try something like that on my own, but thank you for taking the risk for all us.

Aside from the bulbs under your feet, how hard was it to change all of the other interior lights to LEDs? I 100% want to do this.
Do you have a link to the bulbs you purchased for each?

Easy. Took a half hour or so and it would have taken much less if I had bought the right tools instead of using a plastic letter opener.

You can find the style of bulbs using this link. Then order from eBay or Amazon.

A plastic spudger is a must so you don't ruin the fabric or other plastic parts. It was not that difficult to change out the bulbs at all. Just take your time and be patient.
