Quick question - I can't figure out how to seek songs or seek radio stations from the steering wheel. The left hand side toggles presets but is there really no way to seek stations? Seems absurd.
3rd gen is the same, that was my thought too: I'd much rather have search. Be nice if it could be switched by owner.
Not seems - it IS absurd. The audio touchscreen idea is rubbish too - impossible to do anything without looking at it, things like FastForward are so S-L-O-W that it's near impossible to use. Some markets have a couple of knobs, but we don't here.
US JBL head units support USB, Bluetooth, and CD seeking within a song by pushing AND HOLDING the left/right directional buttons on the steering wheel. It takes an extra second of holding before it starts. Have not tried radio stations.
There is limited functionality with the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. I don't have radio reception so I don't listen to it. I mostly navigate my iPod's playlist.
Not here - they want us to watch our Speedometers rather than the road. At least we don't quite have "only 1km/hr over & we bust you" like in draconian Victoria. Seriously, I've had music playing since I started driving in 1970.
"What should I do when entering a tunnel? When entering a tunnel: listen for updates or important traffic information on your radio ..."
Our first car didn't have a radio, but one time, our two young kids in the back seat had a little portable, turned it on. So here we are tooling down the lane out of our apartment complex, and it's blasting away: that famous stripper theme song. Hysterical!
Gen 3 and 4, all models with all head units can seek by holding the preset button. Press down once it goes to the preset one below you, hold it and it seeks to the nearest station with enough signal below you. Keep holding and it seeks continuously until you let go. On USB or other fast forwardable sources holding the buttons fast forwards or rewinds. On satellite it seeks through the stations. Holding mode mutes/pauses depending on source as well. On gen 3 its left and right buttons, on 4 it's up and down buttons.
I'm embarrassed to admit i'm a frequent 'seeker' and I was very unhappy that I couldn't find this capability. THANK-YOU!!
I can't help, after the initial thing with the premium sound in my 2008 I turned the radio off and left it there. I enjoyed it being quiet in the car, my wife when she was in the car controled the radio but every chance I had I turned it off. I spent my life working in a noisy environment and to me silence is truly golden. Lol
