Hello and happy holidays! There has been this scraping squish sound coming from the front of the car. I noticed it's gotten a little louder these past months, but can't figure out what it is. At first I thought it was the tires. So I checked for debris and found none. The pressures are within range too. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions? Car has 29K miles and is 2014 model. Thank you!
All I can hear is the wind noise and a car horn... I do hear a slight clicking noise if that's what you mean.
Sorry about that. I'll try to get a better clip when I get off work. But yeah, it's that clicking noise.
No worries, you do with what you've got, right? If it's the clicking noise, I would recommend that you listen as best you can to see which wheel it's coming from (general area, not saying it's a wheel causing it). Best and easiest way to do this is to drive as close to a wall as possible on both sides of the car to determine which side of the car it's on. Once that's established, you can have a friend ride with you and determine if it's front or back. At that point, you can eliminate the wheels/tires by rotating the fronts to the back and seeing if it moves with the tires/wheels. In my experience, this kind of clicking noise is usually a leaf or a rock or something in the tread, or in the rotor. Sometimes, however, it can be the CV axle...
Wasn't there a user on here a few months ago that found a hubcap to be the culprit of a strange noise like this? Heck, might be worth a try at least. Wouldn't take more than a couple min to take them all off and go for a drive.
Now that you mention it, I do recall this. He put it back on and the sound came back. Not sure how he resolved it.
Much appreciation for your replies, guys! It turned out it was indeed the fricken hub cab. I can't believe it.
