Hello everyone... Not sure if anyone has or has had an annoying rattle in the following places... 1. Passenger seat when unoccupied.. Rattles at freeway speeds occasionally despite seat position. I've ensured that everything is tightened but it drives me nuts when on the freeway. If you hold the headrest and push slightly the rattle stops. 2. Dashboard midway up dash towards gauges, if you press on the dash it will stop, again occasional but more noticeable in colder weather vs warmer. Has anyone been able to take their dash and consoles apart to add deadening material, anyone else have any little rattles etc. Any help, suggestions, anything will help me. Its driving me batty and turning up the volume on the stereo does not help. I'm at wits end and have been driving my car less as I can no longer take it. Happy Holidays to all my fellow Prii owners :c)
I don't know what to say. It's a Prius. They rattle. At cold temperatures plastic compresses = more room for rattling. For the dash, you can tear/cut small foam pieces and insert between the panels. I wouldn't disassemble anything though. That'll likely make things worse.
Thanks Macmaster05.... I've had the car since new, this is the first time I've gotten a rattle... I will try the foam pieces. I'd prefer not to take the dash part or start removing things if I don't have to
The rattle which I've noticed on my 2009 Gen II comes from the region of the centre arm-rest, and is caused by my water-bottle rattling against the coins which are usually occupying the same cup-holder! The simple fix is to remove coins/water-bottle!
