No, neither of these guys were behind me when I came to a stop. They pulled up after I had been waiting a time for the intersection to clear and for it to be "my turn."

    Hey Brandon,
Although we live in a small town, we have a bit of variety with people from all over the world for college and fort riley. Since you never experienced like this before, just ignore them and I don't think you did anything wrong. maybe if it happens again, then you can start thinking of what you did wrong.

Yesterday, actually I honked, probably for the second time in my life. I think it was a brownish prius just like yours. I'm just kidding. I honked at a salsa-colored prius because I was really happy to see another prius and I just wanted to wave. The guy of the prius looked at me for a 0.0002 micro-sec and went away (no waving me back). Maybe it's not a small-environment at all in Manhattan.

You may want to check the back of your car.

Several times I have had co-workers think it funny to put a note on the back of my car that says something like "Honk if you think I am gay"...there are other variations too!

I learned my lesson once when I honked a little to long at someone who had cut me off in the parking lot. (Well, I flipped him off too) He stopped his car in front of me and got out. He looked like an NFL Offensive Lineman (around 6'4 400 pounds). He slowly walked up to my car and said...I am sorry for cutting you off, but honking like that and flipping me off was very rude. All I could say was ....."Uhhhh, I'm sorry" (through a closed window of course). Learned right then to be a little more patient, lest I get beaten to a pulp!

    Mike

I had originally disregarded this as a possibility, but it happened to be again today.

My brakes tend to bark at me when I'm sitting at a stop. Other have reported a similar experience. The first time this happened, I was at a red light and wasn't paying very much attention; when I heard it, I assumed that the light had changed and I missed it so I started to go. My wife just about freaked that I was driving into a red light. I insisted that the guy behind me had honked at me.

Others have indicated that this is a cold-weather phenomenon. So I'm not sure what caused it today but when I heard it, I knew that it was possible in warm weather as well and immediately thought that perhaps you were getting the same thing.

    Is that possible?

LOL! Yes, because I can't help but feel that somehow driving safely is all my fault. <_<

Well, I hate to say it, but it's been my impression that with the population boom Manhattan, KS has become a "less friendly" town over the past few years. Seems like the only people that show some level of courtesy are the ones who know they're going to be living here more than four years. That's one part of the Big Apple I wish they wouldn't try to emulate in the Little Apple. I still think it's a great place in which to retire or raise a family; but I also agree that we're seeing more "culture clash" between long-time residents, the semi-transient college students, and the military personnel who are moving here from all parts of the nation (and Germany). The next few years will prove interesting.

Ah.... No. If what I heard were my brakes barking at me, well, I'd have a really, really serious problem on my hands! The first guy making "Wth" hand gestures at me in my rear-view mirror was pretty much a dead give away that I was hearing his car horn.

What I want to do is to subject them to a week at work or somewhere they get trampled half to death with psychos screaming they gotta get things done and kick butt. Is this what Alcholoics Anynomous does - give you so much you get sick of your own crap?

there are legit reasons for honking at someone... ie they're being an a-hole and not considering traffic around them. there are also non-legit reasons, typically used by a-holes who don't consider traffic around them.
