I see a company called speedway motors has some 15 " moon discs they call them in the hotrod world has anyone tried them and seen any gains in MPG I thought I had seen another company or person called mikes that sells them but have been unable to find the link .
I am not saying you won't have better MPG, but it will so small you will never make back your investment. "We also tested the moon discs which reduced drag by two to four counts. The farther the wheels are from the outer edge of the fender, the less the discs matter." smooth wheels/hub caps = MPG increase? - Fuelly Forums Smooth wheel covers - EcoModder
Thanks for the reply the discs I bought were from CHROME WAREHOUSE $70.00 for the set of 4 fitted them yesterday so will see what my trip is after a month with them on .
so after 1500 miles here is what I found my trip to town is 27 miles 2 of which are off road usually I use the ODO reading for mileage which shows the" from start" mpg, at each end of the journey it would show 62/64 mpg which would turn out to be 60/61 actual mpg this was at a CC of 45MPH as its a very quiet highway there was no risk to other users I used CC to remove a variable from the figures ,after fitting the discs my ODO readings would show 67/69 mpg and this turned out to be an actual MPG of 64/65mpg in fill ups so not a huge increase as mentioned by other user here but interesting ,I stopped the test due to much colder weather now and also I lost a disc in an off road traffic accident avoidance maneuver, I am going to try this test again @55 mph when I get a replacement disc .
It mataid aerodynamics, but it is also compromising brake cooling...like on a long downhill stretch. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
