    bisco,
    Thanks.
Things pretty much fell into place. I placed the deposit over the phone on Friday 11/24/17 and the car was delivered to my door on Saturday morning 12/2/17. A week and a day thanks to FedEx overnight, a good salesman and a good shipper.

It looks like the $3250 New England 2017 prime rebate was extended for the rest of the year.

Edit: I may be wrong about this. I'm only finding it on one website (see below).

eegah, unfortunately I don't see the rebate. Do you have a link?

I was going to pull the trigger on a Prime in NJ last week but wasn't able to and missed the $3500 rebate :(

Is the 3500 rebate gone from NJ? Figured worst case they would just lower it.

I saw the end date of 1/2, so I figured it was legit. I can't find it on other websites, though.

Unfortunately, it may be gone after all. :(

Hold the phone: my dealership shows it with a 1/2 expiration date. Maybe it just takes awhile to update things?

The suspense is killing me, and I already bought mine! I really hope you shoppers out there can get this deal!

Sweet. I see the 1/2 date as well, at least on the Toyota site. I was working with a NJ dealer and don't see it on their site yet, but as you said it might take a day or so to update. Hopefully I can do this soon!

I'm interested in getting a prius prime (probably advanced). I'm in SoCal. Is the best deal to purchase from a NJ dealer and have it shipped to me? CA has 1K rebate where NJ has 3500. Even if it costs 1K to ship, I'm ahead 1500.
Has anyone already done something like this and recommend a NJ dealer with experience in out of state purchase and shipping? TIA

I think shipping that distance would eat up any savings. I purchased last month from N.J. and had it shipped about 1100 miles. Cost was about $1000.

Why not buy from Dianne Whitmire at Carson Toyota in So. Cal. She has good prices. She is also a member of Priuschat.

I shipped ~ 2000 miles from NY to NM for $900. I was told that the price was inflated by having to pay the Hudson river toll. One trick to keeping shipping charges down is to accept delivery along or very close to the major truck thoroughfares. I chose Albuquerque since it sits on Highway 40.

People thinking about buying out of state have a little homework since each destination state has its own rules regarding out of state car purchases. Colorado made it easy for me*: I bought a temp plate for $6 I used to drive the car home and until I made it to the local recorder office for TT&L. Since I handled the TT&L and the car was loaded on to the carrier without plates the NY dealership did not charge me any fees and I was not subject to any NYS fees.

Small problems came up that I was able to resolve with the dealership by email and one phone call, but overall it was less aggravation than putting up with the usual shenanigans a physical visit to a dealership entails. And certainly less of a time pit. I hesitate to recommend out of state purchases to anyone and everyone for two reasons: the rules of any one state may be too much of a hassle; and second, the buyer should be willing and able to handle this without a lot of hand holding and dealerships vary in their experience handling this type of sale. Try to find a dealership that says "sure, we do this all the time."

    I used movewheels.com

*The temp plate is apparently only supposed to be offered to residents who already have the car in state, but they did not ask and I did not volunteer the information that the car was crossing the state line after delivery. I would have lied if asked.

Who did you buy from? And once you started the long distance negotiations, how long did it take to actually buy the car? Also, when you got your carrier, how long did it take for them to get to the dealer and pickup the car, and then deliver it to you. Thx, Ben

Can you get the 3500 rebate and 0.9% rate? I don't see where it says you cant.

I am trying to have my Prius Prime Shipped from NJ to Texas. The dealer says I need to be there in person to sign??? Is that true?
It would make everything a lot easier if I did not.

I had a problem (also NJ) with that also. I think if you are financing then you must sign in in person. I was able to have paper work sent fedex and notarized.

I’m close to finalizing a deal with a CA dealer and I live in UT. Will be doing everything via FedEx, then having the car shipped to my home.

I used a dealer from NJ and was able to do everything with fedex but did not finance. I did have a very difficult time with one dealer just blowing me off totally. The dealer I finally used took a couple weeks to finalize everything.
