Honestly, if it's far enough away from the car, I don't think you'd need to worry much. The battery in my spare Gen 2 fob lasted 12 years, which was as long as I had the car before I totaled it in an accident. I gave it to a guy where I used to work, because his fiancee had a Gen 2, so he could have it reprogrammed as a spare. He said it worked great. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
THIS. But which battery are you trying to "save" ? The one in the FOB or the one in the car ?? P.S. Please do NOT post the same question in multiple sub-forums; especially ones that are intended for a model that you do NOT have.
it's in the manual. a nice feature that some previous gen owners would like to have, you can lock the fob in the car.
OP. Here's one scenario that might make sense to me: going kayaking and wants to leave the expensive fob in the car (and take a key) rather than risking getting the expensive electronics wet.
Here is the way to do it. push and hold the lock button. then push the unlock button twice. this will turn the fob off
