The post you quoted was for a Prime Plus.

As for how he did ... hard to say.
They gave him $5k for a 2013 Ford Focus with 38k miles as part of the package deal.
The KBB Focus SE with standard equipment and in very good condition trade-in price is 5-6k.

If you see one post before that. Komba got a premium for $26500 OTD.

    Rebate included ?

    Addendum:
I went back to Komba's post. If we figure that 7% sales tax and $3250 rebate are included, the car price was $26500+3250-2100 = $27,650. That is a very good price for a Prime Premium, particularly if it included the delivery charge. If it was part of a deal that included a trade-in, then all bets are off.

I agree. There would be the only way I get prime and sell my 2010. Almost like driving a car with 2 years free of depreciation. :)
There is another one here that got a great deal. Just not sure is this with the $1100 NY state rebate or not.

Mine's a Plus and I get the benefit of 0% sales tax here in NH, so that explains some of the difference.

I'm not seeing the $3250 rebate anymore. Wasn't that supposed to expire on 12/4???

No trade-in on my deal. Decided to keep it and try to sell on my own.

Went to dig up the papers considering now you guys have me doubting myself. NJ Rebate is 3500. Complete and total breakdown of what they have on the vehicle order. I didn't really care how they got to the 26500 OTD price as long as they got there. Going by the vehicle order here is how they did it.

    MSRP

    30,008
    Agreed to Price: 27382.77
    Tire Tax : 7.50
    Doc Fee: 299.00
    State Tax: 1903.68
    Online Reg Fee: 8.05
    Reg Fee: 399.00
    Total ------------30,000

    Rebate: 3500
    = 26,500

Down payment put 2262 and financed a total of 24,238
Unless I'm missing something I should be at an even 22k after the Tax Rebate.

For what it's worth, it was Black Friday and the place was absolutely dead. I was the only person in there negotiating a deal and it went right up until closing at 9 PM. They came to me with a pretty good deal, I said I wanted another $800 off and they said no. I kindly said thanks for your time and left with my wife. They called me once I got 5 minutes down the road and I went back. Can't think of any other details.

Apologies if I was involved. I take it the dealership agreed to the $26.5k OTD price whether or not you traded in the car ?

Hah, nah. Was just doubting myself off of memory. Happy to see I got a good deal. Didn't intend on buying a car that night but had read through this thread and had a really low number I wanted them to hit that would make me do the purchase. They hit the number I had so I went ahead with it.

And yes, they agreed to the price outside of trading in any car. I had (and still have) an 07 Honda Civic that recently managed to have a deer run into it. Still runs well, just not the prettiest to look at so I would have been shocked if they even gave me $500 bucks for it. I didn't even have them appraise it. Figured I'll Craigslist it and hopefully get a few bucks more.

I am so happy for you. Thanks for sharing your price. I was there the day after you with the internet sales person and they would not move the price. I was hoping to get a similar price. Sigh.

Me buying the car the night before may have hurt your cause. Could see a situation where they weren't as willing to give a great deal just 1 day after I got what I did. David was the salesperson I dealt with and Karla was the sales manager. David was legitimately very nice. Karla was a bit more guarded and tougher to tell but she came through for me so consider me a fan.

Only regret I have is that I think I should have gotten the moonstone interior. I went with the black interior instead because I was scared of the white showing marks easier. The more I read about the interior and the more I think any color would hold up well.

It was a Focus S, not SE (not that you could've known that).

I am brand new to this forum. This is my first post.

I have always been interested in the Prius, but (and I mean this in the nicest way) they always looked like a potato on wheels to me.

Paying attention to the budget reform I feel that there is a good chance that the federal EV tax credit will end soon. Perhaps 12/31/17. I could be wrong but didn’t want to take a chance.

It seemed like now or never, so I looked into the Prius line up, found the Prime and the rest is history.

I was able to find a Prime Premium with 8100 miles (asking price $32,000) at a local dealer and take it for a test drive.

I could not find a new Prime anywhere in the Raleigh, NC area.

Used did not make sense since I would not be eligible for the federal tax credit of $4,502.00.

I looked across the country and saw that NY & NJ dealers had good inventory and a $3,500 factory incentive ending on 12/4/17.

I did the math and set a goal of buying a new Prius Prime Premium with 10 year, 100k mile extended warranty for under $25K all in.

    Here is how I did:

Prius Prime Premium Blue Magnetism / Black Interior 28,800

2T All weather Floor Liners / Cargo Tray 248.00

    3P Paint Protection Film 395.00

Delivery, processing & Handling Fee 895.00

    Total MSRP $30,338.00

    0$ deductible T4/B95 10 yr /100k ($225 over cost) 1,770.00

    Incentives -3,500.00

    Negotiated dealer discount -1,338.00

    Selling Price before TTL $27,270.00

uShip Buffalo to Raleigh (enclosed) with fees 537.50

NC 3% Road tax, Property tax, Title, Plate,… 1,114.99

    Final total cost $28,922.49

    Federal Tax Credit -4502.00

Final cost (on the road) $24,420.49

May not be the best deal to be had, but I met my goal and I'm a happy camper.
