Just over a month now, and still getting used to all the possibilities, but I really like this car. Hybrid/EV is all new to me. So is any kind of automation. I am pretty sure my last ride was the lowest tech Toyota available in 2007. It was a 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual Tacoma with absolutely NOTHING power. Hand crank windows, manual locks, no bluetooth anything. It didn't even beep if you left the seat belt unbuckled! So my base model is all bells and whistle to this old fart. 3 Cars in one. - It's a ZERO Carbon footprint operator for me much of the time. Power supplied via our own giant nuclear fusion reactor, ie: the Sun along with my homebased power division; (this space is where I would have posted a link to my home solar production stats, but I am not allowed to post links yet) - It's an extended range hybrid. - It's pretty sporty for someone that just came from a 4 cyl powered pickup! As I get used to how it behaves I really enjoy the push button transformer interface. I'm in EV/ECO mode for most of my commute. Hybrid for longer highway stints. "Sport" mode is always a button away for when I need some extra go power. I am looking to upgrade it's cold weather comfort, I am thinking a decent lap blanket will help And I would really like to take advantage of the hidden space to install a big amplifier to power new speakers. If I can't use it to carry lumber, I might as well enjoy the music along the way. Anyway, mostly just saying and I really like my Prime! Jake
Welcome to PriusChat, and congratulations! I've carried lumber; make sure to use "protection"! Christmas trees fit, and all my guitars, amps, stands, speakers, cables, microphones, etc. fit! And don't let 'em scare you, all your grocery bags will just fit, with cover, without folding down the seatbacks! In crowded parking lots like in my area, you need to be very careful because your car is so quiet, they don't hear you coming!! .
Eco, Normal and Power modes all have the same power when the pedal is on the floor. It's just a change in pedal mapping.
Yup, I've hauled plenty of lumber. And enough vinyl flooring to do my living room and two bedrooms. (Steering felt a little light, I admit.) And a double wide roll-around tool box. (Not all at the same time.) Still haven't figured out how to fit in a 4X8 sheet of plywood without cutting it, though.
Blanket on top of the car, good tie-down straps, or rope, through windows!! Keep to surface streets so you don't go airborne! . My bass player, Mike, does it with a Volt, so should be no problem for your Prime! .
I would think a string bass would fit easily with the rear seats down. If it's too long (which I don't think it is), the front passenger seat folds flat with the folded rear seats and you can extend all the way to the glove box. I put 10 foot long pipes in my 2004 Prius and my Little Giant Xtreme 26 fits in my Prime. I think that ladder is longer than a string bass since it's 6'7" long.
How tall, measure and then use a tape in the car, my gen 2 would hold a 203cm snowboard, my gen 3wouldnt, and these gen 4s’s are even shorter inside, if it does, rig up some easy to fit sort of device to hold it in place, some light weight elastic bands possibly.
Thanks for the welcome Just hit 150 miles per gallon. I've traveled only 1,542 miles thus far, but that was on 10 gallons of gas! I know that amateur to most of you all, but I'm pretty damn pleased!
