The thing is with a Prius, the maintenance is cheap even if you go to the dealer for everything. Back in the early eighties I had a 1980 242 Turbo Volvo and my Turbo blew a seal at 40K plus miles. Found out at the time that I had the longest running oil cooled Turbo in the US. Volvo picked up 100% of the bill which included the Turbo and a new Catalytic converter which was trashed when the oil seal went and sent three quarts of oil down the exhaust pipe. I changed the oil every three thousand miles and it was dealer serviced.
I have no idea how much I've saved doing all maintenance on our all Toyota family fleet since 1993, but I'll bet it would buy several Toaster Packs... And in time it probably will.
