Are there really regular Phillips head screws holding on the panel? I live in the rust belt, and those things go bad fast.

    Take a look?

The screws employed on 3rd gen are coarse thread, screw into nylon block inserts, can be driven either with 10 mm hex socket or a medium cross-head screw driver.

Their rust resistance is next to nil. :(

If you must have the car, say to get to the dealership for the right filter, just reinstall the old one, get to the dealership and back, unscrewing the housing once more (you'll lose only about a cup), replace the filter, top up for that lost cup.

What interval are you using? if say only 5000 miles, then I'd be inclined to just leave the old filter in till the next oil change.

In that picture, 04152, the actual filter with replacement O-ring, is what you want. Hands-down the best approach to getting the right parts is to go to a dealership parts department, and just tell them you need oil filter for such-and-such model.

I ordered mine online from a dealer
Toyota Parts and Accessories | MetroToyotaPartsNow.com.
You select your vehicle and then search for the part. Ordering several parts distributes the shipping expense.

I'm at dealership twice yearly anyway, getting bulk oil, maybe washer fluid, casting sideways glances at the new car's.

No wonder you do not like the look of the Gen 4!
    You're looking at it wrong!

There's never a gen 4 in the show room. Last time I was in there they did have one demo on the lot. My understanding, from local dealerships, you have to pre-order.

I just did oil change in 2016 Gen 4 Prius, I just used one of my oil filters that I had been using for my 2015 Gen 3 Prius. I didn't notice any difference in them. The Gen 3 oil filter wrench worked also.

I was looking for the inside cabin filter, didn't see it on lists but sure it is?
