    Help please.

I'm in DFW TX and there is no Prius Prime available here. I must order and wait 3 to 6 months. Pay full sticker.

I'm willing to either go to Ca or NY and get one or where ever but not too happy about driving home. I'll do it if I have to.

I noticed that in Los Angeles CA there is 3500 off. Is that only for CA residents or can I go there and buy it and take advantage of the rebates and incetives without being a CA resident?

I need to complete the purchase before the end of the year.

I'm looking at getting a Premium or Advance. I think the Premium would be the better deal.

Has anyone bought a Prime in LA and was not a CA resident?

    Thanks

N.J. also has a $3500 discount and you can get the discount without being a resident.

The problem with CA is the sales tax they charge residents and non-residents alike.

Buy from the cheapest state on the East Coast and ship the car to yourself. Worked great for me.

I don't know if California law has changed, but when I was selling vehicles there, the dealer could deliver the car out of state, usually we used Las Vegas, and the client would sign appropriate documents testifying to the out of state delivery. The dealer rep would have to buy something in Vegas, keeping the receipt to prove he'd been there.
This was a fairly common practice for our dealership (RV's and cars) to permit out of state buyers from having to pay tax etc. in California, on high ticket items. The dealer charged a nominal fee for this service, something like $500, part of which would go to the delivering salesrep and to cover plane ticket home, etc.

What happened in Vegas, stayed in Vegas. Of course it was recorded, placed on Youtube and shared and reedited and made into a MEME.;)

I'm in DFW and my daughter's 2004 Prius and wife's 2007 (with high mileage) are getting near replacement time so I've been watching this thread. Texas is going to implement a $2500 incentive for EV's starting sometime in 2018. They are currently writing the rules and the draft says EV's with >4kW will qualify, so the Prime should be in. The anticipated implementation currently says April 2018. If this incentive happens I expect Toyota would want to get some Primes into Texas. If Congress doesn't kill the federal tax credit AND this incentive is put in place we'll be in great shape next year for a good deal.

Third one from the top is the Texas EV incentive proposal: Rule Proposals - TCEQ - www.tceq.texas.gov

Hey, and you lucky Texans now get Toyota Corporate in your state (sad for us Californians who enjoyed having them so close!), so I'd expect a lot of pro-Toyota activity in your state. Good luck on your upcoming Prime move!!

    -MSRP: $28443 ($27100 + DPH $895, liners $248, door guards $125, rear applique $75)
    -Incentives (Toyota:$3250, Dealer/USAA "discount":$1640): $4890
    -Selling price before TTL: $23553
-Out the door price (0% sales tax, $379 admin, $27 title): $23959
    -Dover, New Hampshire

Our trade-in figured in as well (not included above; $5000-$3384.84 payoff=$1615.16). With that and the $4500 tax credit, we're looking at $17843.84.
